بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
1
الٓمٓ alif lām mīm Alif, Lam, Meem.
2
تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ tanzīlul kitābi lā rayba fīhi min rabbil `ālamīn The [gradual] sending down of the Book, there is no doubt in it, is from the Lord of all the worlds.
3
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ ۚ بَلْ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ am yaqūlūnaf-tarāh ۚ bal huwal ḥaqqu min rabbika litundhira qawman mā atāhum min nadhīrin min qablika la`allahum yahtadūn But they say, ‘He has fabricated it.’ No, it is the truth from your Lord, that you may warn a people to whom there did not come any warner before you, so that they may be guided [to the right path].
4
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِى سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ۖ مَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا شَفِيعٍ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ allāhul ladhī khalaqas samāwāti wal-arḍa wa mā baynahumā fī sittati ayyāmin thummas-tawā `alal-`arsh ۖ mā lakum min dūnihi min waliyyin walā shafī` ۚ afalā tatadhakkarūn It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them in six days, then He settled on the Throne. You do not have besides Him any guardian or intercessor. Will you not then take admonition?
5
يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥٓ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ yudabbirul-amra minas samā-i ilal-arḍi thumma ya`ruju ilayhi fī yawmin kāna miqdāruhu alfa sanatim mimmā ta`uddūn He directs the command from the heaven to the earth; then it ascends toward Him in a day whose span is a thousand years by your reckoning.
6
ذَٰلِكَ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ dhālika `ālimul ghaybi wash shahādatil `azīzur raḥīm That is the Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, the All-mighty, the All-merciful,
7
ٱلَّذِىٓ أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ۖ وَبَدَأَ خَلْقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ مِن طِينٍ alladhī aḥsana kulla shay-in khalaqah ۖ wabada-a khalqal-insāni min ṭīn who perfected everything that He created and commenced man’s creation from clay.
8
ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسْلَهُۥ مِن سُلَـٰلَةٍ مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ thumma ja`ala naslahu min sulālatim min mā-in mahīn Then He made his progeny from an extract of a base fluid.
9
ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦ ۖ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ thumma sawwāhu wanafakha fīhi min rūḥih ۖ waja`ala lakumus sam`a wal-abṣāra wal-af-idah ۚ qalīlan mā tashkurūn Then He proportioned him and breathed into him of His Spirit, and made for you hearing, sight, and hearts. Little do you thank.
10
وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا ضَلَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَءِنَّا لَفِى خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍۭ ۚ بَلْ هُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ waqālū a-idhā ḍalalnā fil-arḍi a-innā lafī khalqin jadīd ۚ bal hum biliqā-i rabbihim kāfirūn They say, ‘When we have been lost in the dust, shall we be indeed created anew?’ Indeed, they disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord.
11
قُلْ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم مَّلَكُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ٱلَّذِى وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ qul yatawaffākum malakul mawtil ladhī wukkila bikum thumma ilā rabbikum turja`ūn Say, ‘You will be taken away by the angel of death, who has been charged with you. Then you will be brought back to your Lord.’
12
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذِ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ نَاكِسُوا۟ رُءُوسِهِمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ رَبَّنَآ أَبْصَرْنَا وَسَمِعْنَا فَٱرْجِعْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَـٰلِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ walaw tarā idhil mujrimūna nākisū ru-ūsihim `inda rabbihim rabbanā abṣarnā wasami`nā farji`nā na`mal ṣāliḥan innā mūqinūn Were you to see when the guilty hang their heads before their Lord [confessing], ‘Our Lord! We have seen and heard. Send us back so that we may act righteously. Indeed we are [now] convinced.’
13
وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَـَٔاتَيْنَا كُلَّ نَفْسٍ هُدَىٰهَا وَلَـٰكِنْ حَقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ مِنِّى لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ walaw shi-nā la-ātaynā kulla nafsin hudāhā walākin ḥaqqal qawlu minnī la-amla-anna jahannama minal jinnati wan nāsi ajma`īn Had We wished We would have given every soul its guidance, but My word became due [against the faithless]: ‘Surely I will fill hell with all the [guilty] jinn and humans.’
14
فَذُوقُوا۟ بِمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَـٰذَآ إِنَّا نَسِينَـٰكُمْ ۖ وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلْخُلْدِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ fadhūqū bimā nasītum liqā-a yawmikum hādhā innā nasīnākum ۖ wadhūqū `adhābal khuldi bimā kuntum ta`malūn So taste [the punishment] for your having forgotten the encounter of this day of yours. We [too] have forgotten you. Taste the everlasting punishment because of what you used to do.
15
Only those believe in Our signs who, when they are reminded of them, fall down in prostration and celebrate the praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.
16
تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ tatajāfā junūbuhum `anil maḍāji`i yad`ūna rabbahum khawfan waṭama`an wa mimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūn Their sides vacate their beds to supplicate their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend out of what We have provided them.
17
فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أُخْفِىَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٍ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ falā ta`lamu nafsun mā ukhfiya lahum min qurrati a`yunin jazā-an bimā kānū ya`malūn No one knows what delights have been kept hidden for them [in the Hereafter] as a reward for what they used to do.
18
أَفَمَن كَانَ مُؤْمِنًا كَمَن كَانَ فَاسِقًا ۚ لَّا يَسْتَوُۥنَ afaman kāna mu-minan kaman kāna fāsiqā ۚ lā yastawūn Is someone who is faithful like someone who is a transgressor? They are not equal.
19
أَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَلَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ نُزُلًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ammal ladhīna āmanū wa`amiluṣ ṣāliḥāti falahum jannātul ma-wā nuzulan bimā kānū ya`malūn As for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, for them will be the gardens of the Abode—a hospitality for what they used to do.
20
وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُوا۟ فَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ ۖ كُلَّمَآ أَرَادُوٓا۟ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَآ أُعِيدُوا۟ فِيهَا وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ wa-ammal ladhīna fasaqū fama-wāhumun nār ۖ kullamā arādū an yakhrujū minhā u`īdū fīhā waqīla lahum dhūqū `adhāban nāril ladhī kuntum bihi tukadhhibūn As for those who have transgressed, their refuge will be the Fire. Whenever they seek to leave it, they will be turned back into it and told: ‘Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny.’
21
وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَدْنَىٰ دُونَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَكْبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ walanudhīqannahum minal `adhābil-adnā dūnal `adhābil-akbari la`allahum yarji`ūn We shall surely make them taste the nearer punishment prior to the greater punishment, so that they may come back.
22
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ ثُمَّ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهَآ ۚ إِنَّا مِنَ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ مُنتَقِمُونَ wa man aẓlamu mimman dhukkira bi-āyāti rabbihi thumma a`raḍa `anhā ۚ innā minal mujrimīna muntaqimūn Who is a greater wrongdoer than him who is reminded of his Lord’s signs, whereat he disregards them? Indeed, We shall take vengeance upon the guilty.
23
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ فَلَا تَكُن فِى مِرْيَةٍ مِّن لِّقَآئِهِۦ ۖ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ هُدًى لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ walaqad ātaynā mūsal kitāba falā takun fī miryatim min liqā-ih ۖ waja`alnāhu hudan libanī isrā-iyl Certainly We gave Moses the Book, [declaring], ‘Do not be in doubt about the encounter with Him,’ and We made it a [source of] guidance for the Children of Israel.
24
وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا۟ ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ waja`alnā minhum a-immatan yahdūna bi-amrinā lammā ṣabarū ۖ wakānū bi-āyātinā yūqinūn When they had been patient and had conviction in Our signs, We appointed amongst them imams to guide [the people] by Our command.
25
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ inna rabbaka huwa yafṣilu baynahum yawmal qiyāmati fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn Indeed your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that about which they used to differ.
26
أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِى مَسَـٰكِنِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ ۖ أَفَلَا يَسْمَعُونَ awalam yahdi lahum kam ahlaknā min qablihim minal qurūni yamshūna fī masākinihim ۚ inna fī dhālika la-āyāt ۖ afalā yasma`ūn Does it not dawn upon them how many generations We have destroyed before them, amid [the ruins of] whose dwellings they walk? There are indeed signs in that. Will they not then listen?
27
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا نَسُوقُ ٱلْمَآءَ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْجُرُزِ فَنُخْرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرْعًا تَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ أَنْعَـٰمُهُمْ وَأَنفُسُهُمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يُبْصِرُونَ awalam yaraw annā nasūqul mā-a ilal-arḍil juruzi fanukhriju bihi zar`an ta-kulu minhu an`āmuhum wa-anfusuhum ۖ afalā yubṣirūn Do they not see that We carry water to the parched earth and with it We bring forth crops, from which they eat, themselves and their cattle? Will they not then see?
28
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْفَتْحُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ wayaqūlūna matā hādhal fat-ḥu in kuntum ṣādiqīn They say, ‘When will this judgement be, if you are truthful?’
29
قُلْ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَتْحِ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِيمَـٰنُهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ qul yawmal fat-ḥi lā yanfa`ul ladhīna kafarū-iymānuhum walā hum yunẓarūn Say, ‘On the day of judgement their [newly found] faith will not avail the faithless, nor will they be granted any respite.’
30
فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَٱنتَظِرْ إِنَّهُم مُّنتَظِرُونَ fa-a`riḍ `anhum wantaẓir innahum muntaẓirūn So turn away from them, and wait. They too are waiting.
