5
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَ ulā-ikal ladhīna lahum sū-ul `adhābi wahum fil-ākhirati humul-akhsarūn They are the ones for whom there is a terrible punishment, and they are the ones who will be the biggest losers in the Hereafter.

I will bring you some news from it, or bring you a firebrand so that you may warm yourselves.’
8
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهَا نُودِىَ أَنۢ بُورِكَ مَن فِى ٱلنَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَسُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ falammā jā-ahā nūdiya an būrika man fin nāri wa man ḥawlahā wasubḥānallāhi rabbil `ālamīn When he came to it, he was called: ‘Blessed is He who is in the fire and who is [as well] around it, and immaculate is Allah, the Lord of all the worlds!’
9
Indeed I am Allah, the All-mighty, the All-wise.’

14
وَجَحَدُوا۟ بِهَا وَٱسْتَيْقَنَتْهَآ أَنفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا ۚ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ wajaḥadū bihā wastayqanat-hā anfusuhum ẓul-man wa`uluwwā ۚ fanẓur kayfa kāna `āqibatul mufsidīn They impugned them, wrongfully and out of arrogance, though they were convinced in their hearts [of their veracity]. قَالُوا۟ تَقَاسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ qālū taqāsamū billāhi lanubayyitannahu wa-ahlahu thumma lanaqūlanna liwaliyyihi mā shahidnā mahlika ahlihi wa innā laṣādiqūn They said, ‘Swear by Allah that we will attack him and his family by night. Then we will tell his heir that we were not present at the murder of his family and that we speak the truth.’
50
وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ wa makarū makran wa makarnā makran wahum lā yash`urūn They devised a plot, and We [too] devised a plan, but they were not aware.
51
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَـٰهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ fanẓur kayfa kāna `āqibatu makrihim annā dammarnāhum waqawmahum ajma`īn So observe how was the outcome of their plotting, as We destroyed them and all their people.
52
فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةًۢ بِمَا ظَلَمُوٓا۟ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ fatilka buyūtuhum khāwiyatan bimā ẓalamū ۗ inna fī dhālika la-āyatan liqawmiy ya`lamūn So there lay their houses, fallen in ruin because of their wrongdoing. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who have knowledge.
53
وَأَنجَيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ wa-anjaynal ladhīna āmanū wakānū yattaqūn And We delivered those who had faith and were Godwary.
54
وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلْفَـٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ walūṭan idh qāla liqawmihi ata-tūnal fāḥishata wa-antum tubṣirūn [We also sent] Lot, when he said to his people, ‘What! Do you commit this indecency while you look on?
55
أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّن دُونِ ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ a-innakum lata-tūnar rijāla shahwatan min dūnin nisā-i ۚ bal antum qawmun tajhalūn Do you approach men with [sexual] desire instead of women?! Indeed, you are a senseless lot!’
56
فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓا۟ أَخْرِجُوٓا۟ ءَالَ لُوطٍ مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ famā kāna jawāba qawmihi illā an qālū akhrijū āla lūṭin min qaryatikum ۖ innahum unāsun yataṭahharūn But the only answer of his people was that they said, ‘Expel Lot’s family from your town! They are indeed a puritanical lot.’
57
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَـٰهَا مِنَ ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ fa-anjaynāhu wa-ahlahu illam-ra-atahu qaddarnāhā minal ghābirīn So We delivered him and his family, except his wife. We ordained her to be among those who remained behind.
58
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ wa-amṭarnā `alayhim maṭarā ۖ fasā-a maṭarul mundharīn Then We poured down upon them a rain [of stones]. Evil was that rain for those who had been warned!
59
قُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصْطَفَىٰٓ ۗ ءَآللَّهُ خَيْرٌ أَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ qulil ḥamdu lillāhi wasalāmun `alā `ibādihil ladhīnaṣ-ṭafā ۗ ālllāhu khayrun ammā yushrikūn Say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, and Peace be to the servants whom He has chosen.’ Is Allah better, or the partners they ascribe [to Him]?
60

What! Is there a god besides Allah? Indeed, they are a lot who equate [others with Allah].
61
أَمَّن جَعَلَ ٱلْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَجَعَلَ خِلَـٰلَهَآ أَنْهَـٰرًا وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ حَاجِزًا ۗ أَءِلَـٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ amman ja`alal-arḍa qarāran waja`ala khilālahā anhāran waja`ala lahā rawāsiya waja`ala baynal baḥrayni ḥājizā ۗ a-ilāhun ma`allāh ۚ bal aktharuhum lā ya`lamūn Is He who made the earth an abode [for you], and made rivers [flowing] through it, and set firm mountains for it [’s stability], and set a barrier between the two seas...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Indeed, most of them do not know.
62
أَمَّن يُجِيبُ ٱلْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَءِلَـٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ amman yujībul muḍṭarra idhā da`āhu wayakshifus sū a wayaj`alukum khulafā-al-arḍ ۗ a-ilāhun ma`allāh ۚ qalīlan mā tadhakkarūn Is He who answers the call of the distressed [person] when he invokes Him and removes his distress, and makes you successors on the earth...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Little is the admonition that you take.
63

What! Is there a god besides Allah? Exalted is Allah above [having] any partners that they ascribe [to Him].
64
أَمَّن يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ وَمَن يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَءِلَـٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ amman yabda-ul khalqa thumma yu`īduhu wa man yarzuqukum minas samā-i wal-arḍ ۗ a-ilāhun ma`allāh ۚ qul hātū burhānakum in kuntum ṣādiqīn Is He who originates the creation, then He will bring it back, and who provides for you from the sky and the earth...? What! Is there a god besides Allah? Say, ‘Produce your evidence, if you are truthful.’
65

93
وَقُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ سَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ فَتَعْرِفُونَهَا ۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ waqulil ḥamdu lillāhi sayurīkum āyātihi fata`rifūnahā ۚ wa mā rabbuka bighāfilin `ammā ta`malūn And say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah. Soon He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them.’ Your Lord is not oblivious of what you do.
