Al-Mursalat (#77)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
1
وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا wal mursalāti `urfā By the [angelic] emissaries sent successively,
2
فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا fal `āṣifāti `aṣfā by those who sweep along like gale,
3
وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا wan nāshirāti nashrā by those who publish [the Divine messages] far and wide,
4
فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا fal fāriqāti farqā by those who separate [the truth from falsehood] distinctly,
5
فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا fal mulqiyāti dhikrā by those who inspire [God’s] remembrance,
6
عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا `udhran aw nudhrā as exemption or warning:
7
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ innamā tū`adūna lawāqi` what you are promised will surely befall.
8
فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ fa-idhan nujūmu ṭumisat When the stars are blotted out
9
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ wa idhas samā-u furijat and the sky is cleft,
10
وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ wa idhal jibālu nusifat when the mountains are scattered [like dust]
11
وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ wa idhar rusulu uqqitat and time is set for the apostles [to bear witness]
12
لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ li-ayyi yawmin ujjilat —for what day has [all] that been set [to occur]?
13
لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ liyawmil faṣl For the Day of Judgement!
14
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ wa mā adrāka mā yawmul faṣl And what will show you what is the Day of Judgement!?
15
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
16
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ alam nuhlikil-awwalīn Did We not destroy the former generations,
17
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ thumma nutbi`uhumul-ākhirīn [and] then made the latter ones follow them?
18
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ kadhālika naf`alu bil mujrimīn That is how We deal with the guilty.
19
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
20
أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ alam nakhluqkum min mā-in mahīn Have We not created you from a base fluid,
21
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ faja`alnāhu fī qarārin makīn [and] then lodged it in a secure abode
22
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ilā qadarin ma`lūm until a known span [of time]?
23
فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ faqadarnā fani`mal qādirūn Then We determined; and how excellent determiners We are!
24
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
25
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا alam naj`alil-arḍa kifātā Have We not made the earth a receptacle
26
أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا aḥyā-an wa-amwātā for the living and the dead,
27
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا waja`alnā fīhā rawāsiya shāmikhātin wa-asqaynākum mā-an furātā and set in it lofty [and] firm mountains, and given you agreeable water to drink?
28
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
29
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ in-ṭaliqū ilā mā kuntum bihi tukadhhibūn [The faithless will be told:] ‘Proceed toward what you used to deny!
لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ lā ẓalīlin walā yughnī minallāhab neither shady nor of any avail against the flames.
32
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ innahā tarmī bishararin kal qaṣr Indeed it throws up [giant] sparks like castles,
33
كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ ka-annahu jimālatun ṣufr [bright] like yellow camels.
34
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
35
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ hādhā yawmu lā yanṭiqūn This is a day wherein they will not speak,
36
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ walā yu-dhanu lahum faya`tadhirūn nor will they be permitted to offer excuses.
37
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
38
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ hādhā yawmul faṣl ۖ jama`nākum wal-awwalīn ‘This is the Day of Judgement. We have brought you together with the former generations.
39
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ fa-in kāna lakum kaydun fakīdūn If you have any stratagems [left], try them out against Me!’
40
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
41
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ innal muttaqīna fī ẓilālin wa`uyūn Indeed the Godwary will be amid shades and springs
42
وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ wafawākiha mimmā yashtahūn and [enjoying] such fruits as they desire.
43
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ kulū washrabū hanī-an bimā kuntum ta`malūn [They will be told:] ‘Enjoy your food and drink, [a reward] for what you used to do.
44
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ innā kadhālika najzil muḥsinīn Thus do We reward the virtuous.’
45
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
46
كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ kulū watamatta`ū qalīlan innakum mujrimūn ‘Eat and enjoy a little! You are indeed guilty.’
47
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
48
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ wa idhā qīla lahumur-ka`ū lā yarka`ūn When they are told, ‘Bow down [in prayer],’ they do not bow down!
49
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Woe to the deniers on that day!
50
فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ fabi-ayyi ḥadīthin ba`dahu yu-minūn So what discourse will they believe after this?
