بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
1
الٓر ۚ تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ alif lām rā ۚ tilka āyātul kitābil ḥakīm Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the signs of the Wise Book.
2
أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَنْ أَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۗ قَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ مُّبِينٌ akāna linnāsi `ajaban an awḥaynā ilā rajulin minhum an andhirin nāsa wabashhiril ladhīna āmanū anna lahum qadama ṣidqin `inda rabbihim ۗ qālal-kāfirūna inna hādhā lasāḥirun mubīn Does it seem odd to these people that We have revealed to a man from among themselves, [declaring], ‘Warn mankind, and give good news to the faithful that they are in good standing with their Lord’? The faithless say, ‘This is indeed a plain magician.’
3
إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ فِى سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ۖ يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ ۖ مَا مِن شَفِيعٍ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ إِذْنِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ inna rabbakumullāhul ladhī khalaqas samāwāti wal-arḍa fī sittati ayyāmin thummas-tawā `alal-`arsh ۖ yudabbirul-amr ۖ mā min shafī`in illā min ba`di idhnih ۚ dhālikumullāhu rabbukum fa`budūh ۚ afalā tadhakkarūn Indeed your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and then settled on the Throne, directing the command. There is no intercessor, except by His leave. That is Allah, your Lord! So worship Him. Will you not then take admonition?
4
إِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا ۖ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقًّا ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَهُمْ شَرَابٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ ilayhi marji`ukum jamī`ā ۖ wa`dallāhi ḥaqqā ۚ innahu yabda-ul khalqa thumma yu`īduhu liyajziyal ladhīna āmanū wa`amiluṣ ṣāliḥāti bil qisṭ ۚ wal ladhīna kafarū lahum sharābun min ḥamīmin wa`adhābun alīmun bimā kānū yakfurūn To Him will be the return of you all; [that is] Allah’s true promise. Indeed, He originates the creation, then He will bring it back that He may reward with justice those who have faith and do righteous deeds. As for the faithless, they shall have boiling water for drink, and a painful punishment because of what they used to defy.
5
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ ضِيَآءً وَٱلْقَمَرَ نُورًا وَقَدَّرَهُۥ مَنَازِلَ لِتَعْلَمُوا۟ عَدَدَ ٱلسِّنِينَ وَٱلْحِسَابَ ۚ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ذَٰلِكَ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ يُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ huwal ladhī ja`alash shamsa ḍiyā-an wal qamara nūran waqaddarahu manāzila lita`lamū `adadas sinīna wal ḥisāb ۚ mā khalaqallāhu dhālika illā bil ḥaqq ۚ yufaṣṣilul-āyāti liqawmiy ya`lamūn It is He who made the sun a radiance and the moon a light, and ordained its phases that you might know the number of years and the calculation [of time]. Allah did not create all that except with justice. He elaborates the signs for a people who have knowledge.
6
إِنَّ فِى ٱخْتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَّقُونَ inna fikh-tilāfil layli wan nahāri wa mā khalaqallāhu fis samāwāti wal-arḍi la-āyātin liqawmiy yattaqūn Indeed in the alternation of night and day, and whatever Allah has created in the heavens and the earth, there are surely signs for a people who are Godwary.
7
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا وَرَضُوا۟ بِٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱطْمَأَنُّوا۟ بِهَا وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا غَـٰفِلُونَ innal ladhīna lā yarjūna liqā-anā waraḍū bil ḥayātid dunyā waṭma-annū bihā wal ladhīna hum `an āyātinā ghāfilūn Indeed those who do not expect to encounter Us and who are pleased with the life of this world and satisfied with it, and those who are oblivious of Our signs
8
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ulā-ika ma-wāhumun nāru bimā kānū yaksibūn —it is they whose refuge shall be the Fire because of what they used to earn.
9
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ يَهْدِيهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِإِيمَـٰنِهِمْ ۖ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهِمُ ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ innal ladhīna āmanū wa`amiluṣ ṣāliḥāti yahdīhim rabbuhum bi-iymānihim ۖ tajrī min taḥtihimul-anhāru fī jannātin na`īm Indeed those who have faith and do righteous deeds, their Lord guides them by the means of their faith. Streams will run for them in gardens of bliss.
10
دَعْوَىٰهُمْ فِيهَا سُبْحَـٰنَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَتَحِيَّتُهُمْ فِيهَا سَلَـٰمٌ ۚ وَءَاخِرُ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ أَنِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ da`wāhum fīhā subḥānakallāhumma wataḥiyyatuhum fīhā salām ۚ wa-ākhiru da`wāhum anil ḥamdu lillāhi rabbil `ālamīn Their call therein will be, ‘O Allah! Immaculate are You!’ and their greeting therein will be, ‘Peace!’ and their concluding call, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.’
11
وَلَوْ يُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسْتِعْجَالَهُم بِٱلْخَيْرِ لَقُضِىَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَجَلُهُمْ ۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا فِى طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ walaw yu`ajjilullāhu linnāsish sharras-ti`jālahum bil khayri laquḍiya ilayhim ajaluhum ۖ fanadharul ladhīna lā yarjūna liqā-anā fī ṭughyānihim ya`mahūn Were Allah to hasten ill for mankind with their haste for good, their term would have been over. But We leave those who do not expect to encounter Us bewildered in their rebellion.
12
وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوْ قَاعِدًا أَوْ قَآئِمًا فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمْ يَدْعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرٍّ مَّسَّهُۥ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ wa idhā massal-insānaḍ ḍurru da`ānā lijanbihi aw qā`idan aw qā-iman falammā kashafnā `anhu ḍurrahu marra ka-an lam yad`unā ilā ḍurrin massah ۚ kadhālika zuyyina lil-musrifīna mā kānū ya`malūn When distress befalls man, he supplicates Us, [lying] on his side, sitting, or standing; but when We remove his distress, he passes on as if he had never supplicated Us concerning the distress that had befallen him. What they have been doing is thus presented as decorous to the transgressors.
13
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْقُرُونَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَمَّا ظَلَمُوا۟ ۙ وَجَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِيُؤْمِنُوا۟ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ walaqad ahlaknal qurūna min qablikum lammā ẓalamū wajā-at hum rusuluhum bil bayyināti wa mā kānū liyu-minū ۚ kadhālika najzil qawmal mujrimīn Certainly We destroyed generations before you when they perpetrated wrongs: their apostles brought them manifest proofs, but they would not have faith. Thus do We requite the guilty lot.
14
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ خَلَـٰٓئِفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لِنَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ thumma ja`alnākum khalā-ifa fil-arḍi min ba`dihim linanẓura kayfa ta`malūn Then We made you successors on the earth after them that We may observe how you will act.
15
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَاتُنَا بَيِّنَـٰتٍ ۙ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا ٱئْتِ بِقُرْءَانٍ غَيْرِ هَـٰذَآ أَوْ بَدِّلْهُ ۚ قُلْ مَا يَكُونُ لِىٓ أَنْ أُبَدِّلَهُۥ مِن تِلْقَآئِ نَفْسِىٓ ۖ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّى عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ wa idhā tutlā `alayhim āyātunā bayyinātin qālal ladhīna lā yarjūna liqā-ana-ti biqur-ānin ghayri hādhā aw baddilh ۚ qul mā yakūnu lī an ubaddilahu min tilqā-i nafsī ۖ in attabi`u illā mā yūḥā ilayy ۖ innī akhāfu in `aṣaytu rabbī `adhāba yawmin `aẓīm When Our manifest signs are recited to them, those who do not expect to encounter Us say, ‘Bring a Quran other than this, or alter it.’ Say, ‘I may not alter it of my own accord. I follow only what is revealed to me. Indeed should I disobey my Lord, I fear the punishment of a tremendous day.’
16
قُل لَّوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَلَوْتُهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَآ أَدْرَىٰكُم بِهِۦ ۖ فَقَدْ لَبِثْتُ فِيكُمْ عُمُرًا مِّن قَبْلِهِۦٓ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ qul law shā-allāhu mā talawtuhu `alaykum walā adrākum bih ۖ faqad labithtu fīkum `umuran min qablih ۚ afalā ta`qilūn Say, ‘Had Allah [so] wished, I would not have recited it to you, nor would He have made it known to you, for I have dwelled among you for a lifetime before it. Do you not exercise your reason?’
17
فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ faman aẓlamu mimmanif-tarā `alallāhi kadhiban aw kadhhaba bi-āyātih ۚ innahu lā yufliḥul mujrimūn So who is a greater wrongdoer than him who fabricates a lie against Allah, or denies His signs? Indeed the guilty will not be felicitous.
18
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُفَعَـٰٓؤُنَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَتُنَبِّـُٔونَ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ waya`budūna min dūnillāhi mā lā yaḍurruhum walā yanfa`uhum wayaqūlūna hā-ulā-i shufa`ā-unā `indallāh ۚ qul atunabbi-ūnallāha bimā lā ya`lamu fis samāwāti walā fil-arḍ ۚ subḥānahu wata`ālā `ammā yushrikūn They worship besides Allah that which neither causes them any harm, nor brings them any benefit, and they say, ‘These are our intercessors with Allah.’ Say, ‘Will you inform Allah about something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?’ Immaculate is He and exalted above [having] any partners that they ascribe [to Him]!
19
وَمَا كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ إِلَّآ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً فَٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ فِيمَا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ wa mā kānan nāsu illā ummatan wāḥidatan fakhtalafū ۚ walawlā kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika laquḍiya baynahum fīmā fīhi yakhtalifūn Mankind were but a single [religious] community; then they differed. And were it not for a prior decree of your Lord, decision would have been made between them concerning that about which they differ.
20
وَيَقُولُونَ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۖ فَقُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْغَيْبُ لِلَّهِ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَ wayaqūlūna lawlā unzila `alayhi āyatun min rabbih ۖ faqul innamal ghaybu lillāhi fantaẓirū innī ma`akum minal muntaẓirīn They say, ‘Why has not some sign been sent down to him from his Lord?’ Say, ‘[The knowledge of] the Unseen belongs only to Allah. So wait. I too am waiting along with you.’
21
وَإِذَآ أَذَقْنَا ٱلنَّاسَ رَحْمَةً مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتْهُمْ إِذَا لَهُم مَّكْرٌ فِىٓ ءَايَاتِنَا ۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ أَسْرَعُ مَكْرًا ۚ إِنَّ رُسُلَنَا يَكْتُبُونَ مَا تَمْكُرُونَ wa idhā adhaqnan nāsa raḥmatan min ba`di ḍarrā-a massat-hum idhā lahum makrun fī āyātinā ۚ qulillāhu asra`u makrā ۚ inna rusulanā yaktubūna mā tamkurūn When We let people taste [Our] mercy after a distress that has befallen them, behold, they scheme against Our signs! Say, ‘Allah is more swift at devising.’ Indeed Our messengers write down what you scheme.
22
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُسَيِّرُكُمْ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا كُنتُمْ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ وَجَرَيْنَ بِهِم بِرِيحٍ طَيِّبَةٍ وَفَرِحُوا۟ بِهَا جَآءَتْهَا رِيحٌ عَاصِفٌ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ أُحِيطَ بِهِمْ ۙ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ لَئِنْ أَنجَيْتَنَا مِنْ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ huwal ladhī yusayyirukum fil barri wal baḥr ۖ ḥattā idhā kuntum fil fulki wajarayna bihim birīḥin ṭayyibatin wafariḥū bihā jā-at hā rīḥun `āṣifun wajā-ahumul mawju min kulli makānin waẓannū annahum uḥīṭa bihim da`awullāha mukhliṣīna lahud dīna la-in anjaytanā min hādhihi lanakūnanna minash shākirīn It is He who carries you across land and sea. When you are in the ships, and they sail along with them with a favourable wind, exulting in it, there comes upon them a tempestuous wind and waves assail them from every side, and they think that they are besieged, they invoke Allah putting exclusive faith in Him, ‘If You deliver us from this, we will surely be among the grateful.’
23
فَلَمَّآ أَنجَىٰهُمْ إِذَا هُمْ يَبْغُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ ۗ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّمَا بَغْيُكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُم ۖ مَّتَـٰعَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ falammā anjāhum idhā hum yabghūna fil-arḍi bighayril ḥaqq ۗ yā-ayyuhan nāsu innamā baghyukum `alā anfusikum ۖ matā`al ḥayātid dunyā ۖ thumma ilaynā marji`ukum fanunabbi-ukum bimā kuntum ta`malūn But when He delivers them, behold, they commit violations on the earth unduly! O mankind! Your violations are only to your own detriment. [These are] the wares of the life of this world; then to Us will be your return, whereat We will inform you concerning what you used to do.
24
إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا كَمَآءٍ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَٱخْتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلْأَرْضِ مِمَّا يَأْكُلُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمُ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَٱزَّيَّنَتْ وَظَنَّ أَهْلُهَآ أَنَّهُمْ قَـٰدِرُونَ عَلَيْهَآ أَتَىٰهَآ أَمْرُنَا لَيْلًا أَوْ نَهَارًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا حَصِيدًا كَأَن لَّمْ تَغْنَ بِٱلْأَمْسِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ innamā mathalul ḥayātid dunyā kamā-in anzalnāhu minas samā-i fakhtalaṭa bihi nabātul-arḍi mimmā ya-kulun nāsu wal-an`āmu ḥattā idhā akhadhatil-arḍu zukhrufahā wazzayyanat waẓanna ahluhā annahum qādirūna `alayhā atāhā amrunā laylan aw nahāran faja`alnāhā ḥaṣīdan ka-an lam taghna bil-ams ۚ kadhālika nufaṣṣilul-āyāti liqawmiy yatafakkarūn The parable of the life of this world is that of water which We send down from the sky. It mingles with the earth’s vegetation from which humans and cattle eat. When the earth puts on its luster and is adorned, and its inhabitants think they have power over it, Our edict comes to it, by night or day, whereat We turn it into a mown field, as if it did not flourish the day before. Thus do We elaborate the signs for a people who reflect.
25
وَٱللَّهُ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ دَارِ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ wallāhu yad`ū ilā dāris salāmi wayahdī man yashā-u ilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīm Allah invites to the abode of peace, and He guides whomever He wishes to a straight path.
26
لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ وَزِيَادَةٌ ۖ وَلَا يَرْهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمْ قَتَرٌ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ lilladhīna aḥsanul ḥusnā waziyādah ۖ walā yarhaqu wujūhahum qatarun walā dhillah ۚ ulā-ika aṣ-ḥābul jannah ۖ hum fīhā khālidūn Those who are virtuous shall receive the best reward and an enhancement. Neither dust nor abasement shall overcast their faces. They shall be the inhabitants of paradise, and they shall remain in it [forever].
27
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَسَبُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ جَزَآءُ سَيِّئَةٍۭ بِمِثْلِهَا وَتَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ مَّا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍ ۖ كَأَنَّمَآ أُغْشِيَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ قِطَعًا مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ مُظْلِمًا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ wal ladhīna kasabus sayyi-āti jazā-u sayyi-atin bimithlihā watarhaquhum dhillah ۖ mā lahum minallāhi min `āṣim ۖ ka-annamā ughshiyat wujūhuhum qiṭa`an minal layli muẓlimā ۚ ulā-ika aṣ-ḥābun nār ۖ hum fīhā khālidūn For those who have committed misdeeds, the requital of a misdeed shall be its like, and they shall be overcast by abasement. They shall have no one to protect [them] from Allah. [They will be] as if their faces were covered with dark patches of the night. They shall be the inmates of the Fire, and they shall remain in it [forever].
28
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ مَكَانَكُمْ أَنتُمْ وَشُرَكَآؤُكُمْ ۚ فَزَيَّلْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَ شُرَكَآؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمْ إِيَّانَا تَعْبُدُونَ wayawma naḥshuruhum jamī`an thumma naqūlu lilladhīna ashrakū makānakum antum washurakā-ukum ۚ fazayyalnā baynahum ۖ waqāla shurakā-uhum mā kuntum iyyānā ta`budūn On the day when We gather them all together, We shall say to those who ascribe partners [to Allah], ‘Stay where you are—you and your partners!’ Then We shall set them apart from one another, and their partners will say, ‘It was not us that you worshipped.
29
فَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ إِن كُنَّا عَنْ عِبَادَتِكُمْ لَغَـٰفِلِينَ fakafā billāhi shahīdan baynanā wabaynakum in kunnā `an `ibādatikum laghāfilīn Allah suffices as a witness between you and us. We were indeed unaware of your worship.’
30
هُنَالِكَ تَبْلُوا۟ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّآ أَسْلَفَتْ ۚ وَرُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَوْلَىٰهُمُ ٱلْحَقِّ ۖ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ hunālika tablū kullu nafsin mā aslafat ۚ waruddū ilallāhi mawlāhumul ḥaqq ۖ waḍalla `anhum mā kānū yaftarūn There every soul will examine what it has sent in advance, and they will be returned to Allah, their real master, and what they used to fabricate will forsake them.
31
قُلْ مَن يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَمَّن يَمْلِكُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَمَن يُخْرِجُ ٱلْحَىَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ ٱلْمَيِّتَ مِنَ ٱلْحَىِّ وَمَن يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ ۚ فَسَيَقُولُونَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ فَقُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ qul man yarzuqukum minas samā-i wal-arḍi amman yamlikus sam`a wal-abṣāra wa man yukhrijul ḥayya minal mayyiti wayukhrijul mayyita minal ḥayyi wa man yudabbirul-amr ۚ fasayaqūlūnallāh ۚ faqul afalā tattaqūn Say, ‘Who provides for you out of the sky and the earth? Who controls [your] hearing and sight, and who brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and who directs the command?’ They will say, ‘Allah.’ Say, ‘Will you not then be wary [of Him]?’
32
فَذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَاذَا بَعْدَ ٱلْحَقِّ إِلَّا ٱلضَّلَـٰلُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصْرَفُونَ fadhālikumullāhu rabbukumul ḥaqq ۖ famādhā ba`dal ḥaqqi illaḍ ḍalāl ۖ fa-annā tuṣrafūn That, then, is Allah, your true Lord. So what is there after the truth except error? Then where are you being led away?
33
كَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ kadhālika ḥaqqat kalimatu rabbika `alal ladhīna fasaqū annahum lā yu-minūn Thus the word of your Lord became due against those who transgress, that they shall not have faith.
34
قُلْ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ ۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ qul hal min shurakā-ikum man yabda-ul khalqa thumma yu`īduh ۚ qulillāhu yabda-ul khalqa thumma yu`īduh ۖ fa-annā tu-fakūn Say, ‘Is there anyone among your partners who originates the creation and then brings it back?’ Say, ‘Allah originates the creation, then He will bring it back.’ Then where do you stray?
35
قُلْ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَهْدِى لِلْحَقِّ ۗ أَفَمَن يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ أَحَقُّ أَن يُتَّبَعَ أَمَّن لَّا يَهِدِّىٓ إِلَّآ أَن يُهْدَىٰ ۖ فَمَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ qul hal min shurakā-ikum man yahdī ilal-ḥaqq ۚ qulillāhu yahdī lilḥaqq ۗ afaman yahdī ilal-ḥaqqi aḥaqqu an yuttaba`a amman lā yahiddī illā an yuhdā ۖ famā lakum kayfa taḥkumūn Say, ‘Is there anyone among your partners who may guide to the truth?’ Say, ‘Allah guides to the truth. Is He who guides to the truth worthier to be followed, or he who is not guided unless shown the way? What is the matter with you? How do you judge?’
36
وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ إِلَّا ظَنًّا ۚ إِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًٔا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا يَفْعَلُونَ wa mā yattabi`u aktharuhum illā ẓannā ۚ innaẓ ẓanna lā yughnī minal ḥaqqi shay-ā ۚ innallāha `alīmun bimā yaf`alūn Most of them just follow conjecture; indeed conjecture is no substitute for the truth. Indeed Allah knows best what they do.
37
وَمَا كَانَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ أَن يُفْتَرَىٰ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِن تَصْدِيقَ ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ wa mā kāna hādhal qur-ānu an yuftarā min dūnillāhi walākin taṣdīqal ladhī bayna yadayhi watafṣīlal-kitābi lā rayba fīhi min rabbil `ālamīn This Quran could not have been fabricated by anyone besides Allah; rather, it is a confirmation of what was [revealed] before it, and an elaboration of the Book, there is no doubt in it, from the Lord of all the worlds.
38
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ ۖ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِسُورَةٍ مِّثْلِهِۦ وَٱدْعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ am yaqūlūnaf-tarāh ۖ qul fa-tū bisūratim mithlihi wad`ū manis-taṭa`tum min dūnillāhi in kuntum ṣādiqīn Do they say, ‘He has fabricated it?’ Say, ‘Then bring a surah like it, and invoke whomever you can, besides Allah, should you be truthful.’
39
بَلْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يُحِيطُوا۟ بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِهِمْ تَأْوِيلُهُۥ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ bal kadhhabū bimā lam yuḥīṭū bi`il-mihi walammā ya-tihim ta-wīluh ۚ kadhālika kadhhabal ladhīna min qablihim ۖ fanẓur kayfa kāna `āqibatuẓ ẓālimīn Indeed, they deny something whose knowledge they do not comprehend, and whose explanation has not yet come to them. Those who were before them denied likewise. So observe how was the fate of the wrongdoers!
40
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يُؤْمِنُ بِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهِۦ ۚ وَرَبُّكَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ wa minhum man yu-minu bihi wa minhum man lā yu-minu bih ۚ warabbuka a`lamu bil mufsidīn Some of them believe in it, and some of them do not believe in it, and your Lord best knows the agents of corruption.
41
وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّى عَمَلِى وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْ ۖ أَنتُم بَرِيٓـُٔونَ مِمَّآ أَعْمَلُ وَأَنَا۠ بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ wa in kadhhabūka faqul lī `amalī walakum `amalukum ۖ antum barī-ūna mimmā a`malu wa-ana barī-un mimmā ta`malūn If they deny you, say, ‘My deeds belong to me and your deeds belong to you: you are absolved of what I do and I am absolved of what you do.’
42
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُونَ إِلَيْكَ ۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ wa minhum man yastami`ūna ilayk ۚ afa-anta tusmi`uṣ ṣumma walaw kānū lā ya`qilūn There are some of them who prick up their ears at you. But can you make the deaf hear even if they do not exercise their reason?
43
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنظُرُ إِلَيْكَ ۚ أَفَأَنتَ تَهْدِى ٱلْعُمْىَ وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ wa minhum man yanẓuru ilayk ۚ afa-anta tahdil `umya walaw kānū lā yubṣirūn There are some of them who observe you. But can you guide the blind even if they do not perceive?
44
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ innallāha lā yaẓlimun nāsa shay-an walākinnan nāsa anfusahum yaẓlimūn Indeed Allah does not wrong people in the least; rather, it is people who wrong themselves.
45
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ كَأَن لَّمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّنَ ٱلنَّهَارِ يَتَعَارَفُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ wayawma yaḥshuruhum ka-an lam yalbathū illā sā`atan minan nahāri yata`ārafūna baynahum ۚ qad khasiral ladhīna kadhhabū biliqā-illāhi wa mā kānū muhtadīn On the day He will gather them [it will be] as if they had not remained [in the world] except for an hour of the day getting acquainted with one another. They are certainly losers who deny the encounter with Allah, and they are not guided.
46
وَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ wa immā nuriyannaka ba`ḍal ladhī na`iduhum aw natawaffayannaka fa-ilaynā marji`uhum thummallāhu shahīdun `alā mā yaf`alūn Whether We show you a part of what We promise them, or take you away [before that], [in any case] their return will be to Us and Allah will be witness to what they do.
47
وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولٌ ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ رَسُولُهُمْ قُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ walikulli ummatin rasūl ۖ fa-idhā jā-a rasūluhum quḍiya baynahum bil qisṭi wahum lā yuẓlamūn There is an apostle for every nation; so when their apostle comes, judgement is made between them with justice, and they are not wronged.
48
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ wayaqūlūna matā hādhal wa`du in kuntum ṣādiqīn They say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, should you be truthful?’
49
قُل لَّآ أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِى ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۗ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌ ۚ إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةً ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ qul lā amliku linafsī ḍarran walā naf`an illā mā shā-allāh ۗ likulli ummatin ajal ۚ idhā jā-a ajaluhum falā yasta-khirūna sā`ah ۖ walā yastaqdimūn Say, ‘I have no control over any benefit for myself nor [over] any harm except what Allah may wish. There is a time for every nation: when their time comes, they shall not defer it by a single hour nor shall they advance it.’
50
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُهُۥ بَيَـٰتًا أَوْ نَهَارًا مَّاذَا يَسْتَعْجِلُ مِنْهُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ qul ara aytum in atākum `adhābuhu bayātan aw nahāran mādhā yasta`jilu minhul mujrimūn Say, ‘Tell me, should His punishment overtake you by night or day, [you will not be able to avert it]; so what part of it do the guilty seek to hasten?’
51
أَثُمَّ إِذَا مَا وَقَعَ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦٓ ۚ ءَآلْـَٔـٰنَ وَقَدْ كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ athumma idhā mā waqa`a āmantum bih ۚ āl-āna waqad kuntum bihi tasta`jilūn ‘What! Do you believe it when it has befallen? Now? While you would seek to hasten it [earlier]?!’
52
ثُمَّ قِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلْخُلْدِ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ thumma qīla lilladhīna ẓalamū dhūqū `adhābal khuldi hal tujzawna illā bimā kuntum taksibūn Then it will be said to those who were wrongdoers, ‘Taste the everlasting punishment. Shall you not be requited for what you used to earn?’
53
وَيَسْتَنۢبِـُٔونَكَ أَحَقٌّ هُوَ ۖ قُلْ إِى وَرَبِّىٓ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقٌّ ۖ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ wayastanbi-ūnaka aḥaqqun huw ۖ qul iy warabbī innahu laḥaqq ۖ wa mā antum bimu`jizīn They inquire of you, ‘Is it true?’ Say, ‘Yes! By my Lord, it is true, and you cannot frustrate [Him].’
54
وَلَوْ أَنَّ لِكُلِّ نَفْسٍ ظَلَمَتْ مَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لَٱفْتَدَتْ بِهِۦ ۗ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ۖ وَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ walaw anna likulli nafsin ẓalamat mā fil-arḍi laftadat bih ۗ wa-asarrun nadāmata lammā ra-awul `adhāb ۖ waquḍiya baynahum bil qisṭ ۚ wahum lā yuẓlamūn Were any soul that has done wrong to possess whatever there is on the earth, it would surely offer it for ransom. They will hide their remorse when they sight the punishment; and judgement will be made between them with justice and they will not be wronged.
55
To Allah indeed belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Look! Allah’s promise is indeed true; but most of them do not know.
56
هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ huwa yuḥyī wayumītu wa ilayhi turja`ūn It is He who gives life and brings death, and to Him you shall be brought back.
57
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَتْكُم مَّوْعِظَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَشِفَآءٌ لِّمَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ yā-ayyuhan nāsu qad jā-at kum maw`iẓatun min rabbikum washifā-un limā fiṣ ṣudūri wahudan waraḥmatun lil-mu-minīn O mankind! There has certainly come to you an advice from your Lord, and a cure for what is in the breasts, and a guidance and mercy for the faithful.
58
قُلْ بِفَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِۦ فَبِذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا۟ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ qul bifaḍlillāhi wabiraḥmatihi fabidhālika falyafraḥū huwa khayrun mimmā yajma`ūn Say, ‘In Allah’s grace and His mercy—let them rejoice in that! It is better than what they amass.’
59
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ فَجَعَلْتُم مِّنْهُ حَرَامًا وَحَلَـٰلًا قُلْ ءَآللَّهُ أَذِنَ لَكُمْ ۖ أَمْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَفْتَرُونَ qul ara aytum mā anzalallāhu lakum min rizqin faja`altum minhu ḥarāman waḥalālan qul ālllāhu adhina lakum ۖ am `alallāhi taftarūn Say, ‘Have you regarded what Allah has sent down for you of [His] provision, whereupon you have made some of it unlawful and [some] lawful?’ Say, ‘Did Allah give you the sanction [to do so], or do you fabricate a lie against Allah?’
60
وَمَا ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ wa mā ẓannul ladhīna yaftarūna `alallāhil kadhiba yawmal qiyāmah ۗ innallāha ladhū faḍlin `alan nāsi walākinna aktharahum lā yashkurūn What is the idea of those who fabricate lies against Allah [concerning their situation] on the Day of Resurrection? Indeed Allah is gracious to mankind, but most of them do not give thanks.
61
وَمَا تَكُونُ فِى شَأْنٍ وَمَا تَتْلُوا۟ مِنْهُ مِن قُرْءَانٍ وَلَا تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا كُنَّا عَلَيْكُمْ شُهُودًا إِذْ تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَا يَعْزُبُ عَن رَّبِّكَ مِن مِّثْقَالِ ذَرَّةٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَلَآ أَصْغَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَآ أَكْبَرَ إِلَّا فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ wa mā takūnu fī sha-nin wa mā tatlū minhu min qur-ānin walā ta`malūna min `amalin illā kunnā `alaykum shuhūdan idh tufīḍūna fīh ۚ wa mā ya`zubu `an rabbika min mithqāli dharratin fil-arḍi walā fis samā-i walā aṣghara min dhālika walā akbara illā fī kitābin mubīn You do not engage in any work, neither do you recite any part of the Quran, nor do you perform any deed without Our being witness over you when you are engaged therein. Not an atom’s weight escapes your Lord in the earth or in the sky, nor [is there] anything smaller than that nor bigger, but it is in a manifest Book.
62
The friends of Allah will indeed have no fear nor will they grieve
63
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ alladhīna āmanū wakānū yattaqūn —those who have faith and are Godwary.
64
لَهُمُ ٱلْبُشْرَىٰ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَفِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۚ لَا تَبْدِيلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ lahumul bushrā fil ḥayātid dunyā wafil-ākhirah ۚ lā tabdīla likalimātillāh ۚ dhālika huwal fawzul `aẓīm For them is good news in the life of this world and in the Hereafter. (There is no altering the words of Allah.) That is the great success.
65
وَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّ ٱلْعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًا ۚ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ walā yaḥzunka qawluhum ۘ innal `izzata lillāhi jamī`ā ۚ huwas samī`ul `alīm Do not grieve at their remarks; indeed all might belongs to Allah; He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.
66
أَلَآ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ شُرَكَآءَ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ alā inna lillāhi man fis samāwāti wa man fil-arḍ ۗ wa mā yattabi`ul ladhīna yad`ūna min dūnillāhi shurakā-a ۚ in yattabi`ūna illaẓ ẓanna wa in hum illā yakhruṣūn Look! To Allah indeed belongs whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth. What do they pursue who invoke partners besides Allah? They merely follow conjectures and they just make surmises.
67
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ huwal ladhī ja`ala lakumul layla litaskunū fīhi wan nahāra mubṣirā ۚ inna fī dhālika la-āyātin liqawmiy yasma`ūn It is He who made the night for you, that you may rest in it, and the day to provide visibility. There are indeed signs in that for people who listen.
68
قَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدًا ۗ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۖ هُوَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ۖ لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنْ عِندَكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ بِهَـٰذَآ ۚ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ qālut-takhadhallāhu waladā ۗ subḥānah ۖ huwal ghaniyy ۖ lahu mā fis samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ ۚ in `indakum min sulṭānin bihādhā ۚ ataqūlūna `alallāhi mā lā ta`lamūn They say, ‘Allah has taken a son!’ Immaculate is He! He is the All-sufficient. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. You have no authority for this [statement]. Do you attribute to Allah what you do not know?
69
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ لَا يُفْلِحُونَ qul innal ladhīna yaftarūna `alallāhil kadhiba lā yufliḥūn Say, ‘Indeed those who fabricate lies against Allah will not be felicitous.’

If my stay [among you] be hard on you and [also] my reminding you of Allah’s signs, [for my part] I have put my trust in Allah. So conspire together, along with your partners, leaving nothing vague in your plan, then carry it out against me without giving me any respite.

فَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَمَا سَأَلْتُكُم مِّنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ fa-in tawallaytum famā sa-altukum min ajr ۖ in ajriya illā `alallāh ۖ wa-umirtu an akūna minal muslimīn If you turn your back [on me], I do not ask any reward from you; my reward lies only with Allah and I have been commanded to be of those who submit [to Allah].’
73
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ خَلَـٰٓئِفَ وَأَغْرَقْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا ۖ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ fakadhhabūhu fanajjaynāhu wa man ma`ahu fil fulki waja`alnāhum khalā-ifa wa-aghraqnal ladhīna kadhhabū bi-āyātinā ۖ fanẓur kayfa kāna `āqibatul mundharīn But they impugned him. So We delivered him and those who were with him in the ark and We made them the successors, and We drowned those who denied Our signs. So observe how was the fate of those who were warned!
74
ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ رُسُلًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِمْ فَجَآءُوهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِيُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِمَا كَذَّبُوا۟ بِهِۦ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَطْبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ thumma ba`athnā min ba`dihi rusulan ilā qawmihim fajā-ūhum bil bayyināti famā kānū liyu-minū bimā kadhhabū bihi min qabl ۚ kadhālika naṭba`u `alā qulūbil mu`tadīn Then after him We sent [other] apostles to their people. They brought them manifest proofs, but they would not believe something they had denied before. Thus do We seal the hearts of the transgressors.
75
ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِم مُّوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِينَ thumma ba`athnā min ba`dihim mūsā wahārūna ilā fir`awna wa mala-ihi bi-āyātinā fastakbarū wakānū qawman mujrimīn Then, after them, We sent Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his elite with Our signs, but they acted arrogantly and they were a guilty lot.
76
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ falammā jā-ahumul ḥaqqu min `indinā qālū inna hādhā lasiḥrun mubīn When the truth from Us came to them, they said, ‘This is indeed plain magic!’
77
قَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَتَقُولُونَ لِلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَكُمْ ۖ أَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَا وَلَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلسَّـٰحِرُونَ qāla mūsā ataqūlūna lilḥaqqi lammā jā-akum ۖ asiḥrun hādhā walā yufliḥus sāḥirūn Moses said, ‘Do you say of the truth when it comes to you [that it is magic]? Is this magic? Magicians do not find salvation.’
78
قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَلْفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا ٱلْكِبْرِيَآءُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤْمِنِينَ qālū aji-tanā litalfitanā `ammā wajadnā `alayhi ābā-anā watakūna lakumal kibriyā-u fil-arḍi wa mā naḥnu lakumā bimu-minīn They said, ‘Have you come to us to turn us away from what we found our fathers following, so that supremacy may be yours in the land? We will not believe in the two of you.’
79
وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱئْتُونِى بِكُلِّ سَـٰحِرٍ عَلِيمٍ waqāla fir`awnu-tūnī bikulli sāḥirin `alīm Pharaoh said, ‘Bring me every expert magician.’
80
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ falammā jā-as saḥaratu qāla lahum mūsā alqū mā antum mulqūn So when the magicians came, Moses said to them, ‘Throw down what you have to throw.’
81
فَلَمَّآ أَلْقَوْا۟ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ مَا جِئْتُم بِهِ ٱلسِّحْرُ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَيُبْطِلُهُۥٓ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ falammā alqaw qāla mūsā mā ji-tum bihis siḥr ۖ innallāha sayubṭiluh ۖ innallāha lā yuṣliḥu `amalal-mufsidīn So when they threw down [their sticks and ropes], Moses said, ‘What you have produced is magic. Indeed Allah will bring it to naught presently. Indeed Allah does not foster the efforts of those who cause corruption.
82
وَيُحِقُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ wayuḥiqqullāhul ḥaqqa bikalimātihi walaw karihal mujrimūn Allah will confirm the truth with His words, though the guilty should be averse.’
83
فَمَآ ءَامَنَ لِمُوسَىٰٓ إِلَّا ذُرِّيَّةٌ مِّن قَوْمِهِۦ عَلَىٰ خَوْفٍ مِّن فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِمْ أَن يَفْتِنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ لَعَالٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ famā āmana limūsā illā dhurriyyatun min qawmihi `alā khawfin min fir`awna wa mala-ihim an yaftinahum ۚ wa inna fir`awna la`ālin fil-arḍi wa innahu laminal musrifīn But none believed in Moses except some youths from among his people, for the fear of Pharaoh and his elite that he would persecute them. For Pharaoh was indeed a tyrant in the land, and indeed he was an unrestrained [despot].
84
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِن كُنتُمْ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ فَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلُوٓا۟ إِن كُنتُم مُّسْلِمِينَ waqāla mūsā yāqawmi in kuntum āmantum billāhi fa`alayhi tawakkalū in kuntum muslimīn And Moses said, ‘O my people! If you have faith in Allah, put your trust in Him, if you have submitted [to Him].’
85
فَقَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ faqālū `alallāhi tawakkalnā rabbanā lā taj`alnā fitnatan lilqawmiẓ ẓālimīn Whereat they said, ‘In Allah we have put our trust.’ ‘Our Lord! Do not make us a [means of] test for the wrongdoing lot,

87
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَأَخِيهِ أَن تَبَوَّءَا لِقَوْمِكُمَا بِمِصْرَ بُيُوتًا وَٱجْعَلُوا۟ بُيُوتَكُمْ قِبْلَةً وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ wa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā wa-akhīhi an tabawwa-ā liqawmikumā bimiṣra buyūtan waj`alū buyūtakum qiblatan wa-aqīmuṣ ṣalāh ۗ wabashhiril mu-minīn We revealed to Moses and his brother [saying], ‘Settle your people in the city, and let your houses face each other, and maintain the prayer, and give good news to the faithful.’
88
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَأَهُۥ زِينَةً وَأَمْوَٰلًا فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِكَ ۖ رَبَّنَا ٱطْمِسْ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَٱشْدُدْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ waqāla mūsā rabbanā innaka ātayta fir`awna wa mala-ahu zīnatan wa-amwālan fil ḥayātid dunyā rabbanā liyuḍillū `an sabīlik ۖ rabbanaṭ-mis `alā amwālihim washdud `alā qulūbihim falā yu-minū ḥattā yarawul `adhābal-alīm Moses said, ‘Our Lord! You have given Pharaoh and his elite glamour and wealth in the life of this world, our Lord, that they may lead [people] astray from Your way! Our Lord! Blot out their wealth and harden their hearts so that they do not believe until they sight the painful punishment.’
89
قَالَ قَدْ أُجِيبَت دَّعْوَتُكُمَا فَٱسْتَقِيمَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعَآنِّ سَبِيلَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ qāla qad ujībat da`watukumā fastaqīmā walā tattabi`ānni sabīlal ladhīna lā ya`lamūn Said He, ‘Your supplication has already been granted. So be steadfast, and do not follow the way of those who do not know.’

وَجَـٰوَزْنَا بِبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ بَغْيًا وَعَدْوًا ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَدْرَكَهُ ٱلْغَرَقُ قَالَ ءَامَنتُ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَتْ بِهِۦ بَنُوٓا۟ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ wajāwaznā bibanī isrā-iylal-baḥra fa-atba`ahum fir`awnu wajunūduhu baghyan wa`adwā ۖ ḥattā idhā adrakahul gharaqu qāla āmantu annahu lā ilāha illal ladhī āmanat bihi banū isrā-iyla wa-ana minal muslimīn We carried the Children of Israel across the sea, whereat Pharaoh and his troops pursued them, out of defiance and aggression. When overtaken by drowning, he called out, ‘I believe that there is no god except Him in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am one of those who submit [to Him]!’
91
ءَآلْـَٔـٰنَ وَقَدْ عَصَيْتَ قَبْلُ وَكُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ āl-āna waqad `aṣayta qablu wakunta minal mufsidīn [He was told,] ‘What! Now? When you have been disobedient heretofore and were among the agents of corruption?!

93
وَلَقَدْ بَوَّأْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مُبَوَّأَ صِدْقٍ وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ فَمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعِلْمُ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِى بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ walaqad bawwa-nā banī isrā-iyla mubawwa-a ṣidqin warazaqnāhum minaṭ ṭayyibāti famakh-talafū ḥattā jā-ahumul `il-m ۚ inna rabbaka yaqḍī baynahum yawmal qiyāmati fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn Certainly We settled the Children of Israel in a worthy settlement and We provided them with all the good things, and they did not differ until [after] the knowledge had come to them. Your Lord will indeed judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that about which they used to differ.
94
فَإِن كُنتَ فِى شَكٍّ مِّمَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ فَسْـَٔلِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقْرَءُونَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكَ ۚ لَقَدْ جَآءَكَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ fa-in kunta fī shakkin mimmā anzalnā ilayka fas-alil ladhīna yaqra-ūnal kitāba min qablik ۚ laqad jā-akal ḥaqqu min rabbika falā takūnanna minal mumtarīn So if you are in doubt about what We have sent down to you, ask those who read the Book [revealed] before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord; so do not be among the skeptics.
95
وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ walā takūnanna minal ladhīna kadhhabū bi-āyātillāhi fatakūna minal khāsirīn And do not be of those who deny the signs of Allah, [for] then you shall be among the losers.

When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in the life of this world, and We provided for them for a while.
99
وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ لَـَٔامَنَ مَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ كُلُّهُمْ جَمِيعًا ۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُكْرِهُ ٱلنَّاسَ حَتَّىٰ يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ walaw shā-a rabbuka la-āmana man fil-arḍi kulluhum jamī`ā ۚ afa-anta tukrihun nāsa ḥattā yakūnū mu-minīn Had your Lord wished, all those who are on earth would have believed. Would you then force people until they become faithful?
