Al-Mursalāt (#77)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.
1
وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا wal mursalāti `urfā I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively,
2
فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا fal `āṣifāti `aṣfā And those that strike violently,
3
وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا wan nāshirāti nashrā And those that revive by quickening,
4
فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا fal fāriqāti farqā And those that distinguish distinctly,
5
فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا fal mulqiyāti dhikrā And those that bring down the Reminder
6
عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا `udhran aw nudhrā To end all argument or to warn.
7
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ innamā tū`adūna lawāqi` What is promised will surely come to pass.
8
فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ fa-idhan nujūmu ṭumisat When the stars are obliterated,
9
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ wa idhas samā-u furijat The heavens split asunder,
10
وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ wa idhal jibālu nusifat The mountains reduced to dust and blown away,
11
وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ wa idhar rusulu uqqitat And when the time comes for raising the little girls (buried alive) --
12
لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ li-ayyi yawmin ujjilat For what day is that time fixed?
13
لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ liyawmil faṣl The Day of Judgement.
14
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ wa mā adrāka mā yawmul faṣl How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is?
15
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
16
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ alam nuhlikil-awwalīn Have We not destroyed the earlier generations?
17
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ thumma nutbi`uhumul-ākhirīn So shall We make the later ones to follow them.
18
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ kadhālika naf`alu bil mujrimīn That is what We shall do to those who are guilty of crime.
19
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
20
أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ alam nakhluqkum min mā-in mahīn Did We not create you from contemptible water?
21
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ faja`alnāhu fī qarārin makīn Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb)
22
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ilā qadarin ma`lūm For a certain appointed time,
23
فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ faqadarnā fani`mal qādirūn Then We facilitated (your birth). How well do We calculate!
24
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
25
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا alam naj`alil-arḍa kifātā Have We not made the earth a repository
26
أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا aḥyā-an wa-amwātā For the living and the dead,
27
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا waja`alnā fīhā rawāsiya shāmikhātin wa-asqaynākum mā-an furātā And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink?
28
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
29
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ in-ṭaliqū ilā mā kuntum bihi tukadhhibūn "Go to what you used to deny;
30
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ in-ṭaliqū ilā ẓillin dhī thalāthi shu`ab Go to the shadow with three ramifications,
31
لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ lā ẓalīlin walā yughnī minallāhab Neither shady nor protecting against the blazing Fire.
32
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ innahā tarmī bishararin kal qaṣr It will throw out sparks as logs of wood
33
كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ ka-annahu jimālatun ṣufr So like golden camels."
34
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
35
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ hādhā yawmu lā yanṭiqūn They will not be able to speak that day,
36
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ walā yu-dhanu lahum faya`tadhirūn Nor given leave to make excuses.
37
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
38
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ hādhā yawmul faṣl ۖ jama`nākum wal-awwalīn That will be the Day of Reckoning. Gathered will be (you) and the earlier (generations).
39
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ fa-in kāna lakum kaydun fakīdūn So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it.
40
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
41
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ innal muttaqīna fī ẓilālin wa`uyūn Those who take heed for themselves and fear God, will be amidst shade and springs of water,
42
وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ wafawākiha mimmā yashtahūn And such fruits as they desire.
43
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ kulū washrabū hanī-an bimā kuntum ta`malūn "Eat and drink with relish as reward for what you had done."
44
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ innā kadhālika najzil muḥsinīn That is how We reward the good.
45
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
46
كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ kulū watamatta`ū qalīlan innakum mujrimūn Eat and enjoy for a while: You are certainly sinners.
47
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
48
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ wa idhā qīla lahumur-ka`ū lā yarka`ūn When it is said to them: "Bow in homage," they do not bow.
49
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ waylun yawma-idhin lil-mukadhhibīn Alas the woe that day for those who deny!
50
فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ fabi-ayyi ḥadīthin ba`dahu yu-minūn In what other lore after this will they then believe?
