7
وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَـٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًا wa innī kullamā da`awtuhum litaghfira lahum ja`alū aṣābi`ahum fī ādhānihim wastaghshaw thiyābahum wa-aṣarrū wastakbarus-tikbārā And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence.
8
ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا thumma innī da`awtuhum jihārā Then I called them loudly and more openly,
9
ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا thumma innī a`lantu lahum wa-asrartu lahum isrārā And declared to them in public and in private,
