بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

كَذَٰلِكَ يُوحِىٓ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ kadhālika yūḥī ilayka wa ilal ladhīna min qablikallāhul `azīzul ḥakīm So has God, all-mighty and all-wise, been revealing to you and to others before you.
4
لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَلِىُّ ٱلْعَظِيمُ lahu mā fis samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ ۖ wahuwal `aliyyul `aẓīm Whatever is in the heavens and the earth, belongs to Him. He is all-high and supreme.
5
تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِن فَوْقِهِنَّ ۚ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ takādus samāwātu yatafaṭṭarna min fawqihinn ۚ wal malā-ikatu yusabbiḥūna biḥamdi rabbihim wayastaghfirūna liman fil-arḍ ۗ alā innallāha huwal ghafūrur raḥīm The skies are near to bursting asunder above them (for awe of Him), and the angels sing the praises of their Lord, imploring forgiveness for the dwellers of the earth. Is it not that God is forgiving and merciful?
6
وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهُ حَفِيظٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ wal ladhīnat-takhadhū min dūnihi awliyā-allāhu ḥafīẓun `alayhim wa mā anta `alayhim biwakīl Those who have taken protectors other than Him, are watched over by God. It is not for you to be their guardian.
7
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّتُنذِرَ أُمَّ ٱلْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَتُنذِرَ يَوْمَ ٱلْجَمْعِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ فَرِيقٌ فِى ٱلْجَنَّةِ وَفَرِيقٌ فِى ٱلسَّعِيرِ wakadhālika awḥaynā ilayka qur-ānan `arabiyyal litundhira ummal qurā wa man ḥawlahā watundhira yawmal jam`i lā rayba fīh ۚ farīqun fil jannati wafarīqun fis sa`īr We have, therefore, revealed to you the eloquent Qur'an that you may warn the people of the Metropolis, and those who live around it, of the Day of Gathering, of which there is no doubt, (when mankind would be assembled) some in Heaven, some in Hell.
8
وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَـٰكِن يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ مَا لَهُم مِّن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ walaw shā-allāhu laja`alahum ummatan wāḥidatan walākin yudkhilu man yashā-u fī raḥmatih ۚ waẓ ẓālimūna mā lahum min waliyyin walā naṣīr If God had pleased He would have made them one community of belief; but He admits whom He please to His grace; yet the sinners have neither friend nor helper.
9
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۖ فَٱللَّهُ هُوَ ٱلْوَلِىُّ وَهُوَ يُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ amit-takhadhū min dūnihi awliyā-a ۖ fallāhu huwal waliyyu wahuwa yuḥyil mawtā wahuwa `alā kulli shay-in qadīr Have they taken others beside Him as protectors? It is God who protects; it is He who gives life to the dead, for He has power over everything.
10
وَمَا ٱخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيهِ مِن شَىْءٍ فَحُكْمُهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبِّى عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ wa makh-talaftum fīhi min shay-in faḥukmuhu ilallāh ۚ dhālikumullāhu rabbī `alayhi tawakkaltu wa ilayhi unīb In whatever matter you disagree the ultimate judgement rests with God. This is God, my Lord; in Him have I placed my trust, if to Him I turn.
11
فَاطِرُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا وَمِنَ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ أَزْوَٰجًا ۖ يَذْرَؤُكُمْ فِيهِ ۚ لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِۦ شَىْءٌ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ fāṭirus samāwāti wal-arḍ ۚ ja`ala lakum min anfusikum azwājan wa minal-an`āmi azwājā ۖ yadhra-ukum fīh ۚ laysa kamithlihi shay-u ۖ wahuwas samī`ul baṣīr Originator of the heavens and the earth, He has made your consorts from among you, and made pairs of cattle. He multiplies you in this way. There is no other like Him. He is all-hearing and all-seeing.
12
لَهُۥ مَقَالِيدُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ lahu maqālīdus samāwāti wal-arḍ ۖ yabsuṭur rizqa liman yashā-u wayaqdir ۚ innahu bikulli shay-in `alīm He holds the keys of the heavens and the earth. He increases or decreases the provision of any one He will. He has knowledge of everything.
13
شَرَعَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا وَصَّىٰ بِهِۦ نُوحًا وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا وَصَّيْنَا بِهِۦٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰٓ ۖ أَنْ أَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُوا۟ فِيهِ ۚ كَبُرَ عَلَى ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ ۚ ٱللَّهُ يَجْتَبِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يُنِيبُ shara`a lakum minad dīni mā waṣṣā bihi nūḥan wal ladhī awḥaynā ilayka wa mā waṣṣaynā bihi ibrāhīma wa mūsā wa`īsā ۖ an aqīmud dīna walā tatafarraqū fīh ۚ kabura `alal-mushrikīna mā tad`ūhum ilayh ۚ allāhu yajtabī ilayhi man yashā-u wayahdī ilayhi man yunīb He has laid down for you the (same) way of life and belief which He had commended to Noah, and which We have enjoined on you, and which We had bequeathed to Abraham, Moses and Jesus, so that they should maintain the order and not be divided among themselves. Heavy is to idolaters what you invite them to. God chooses whom He please for Himself, and guides to Himself whoever turns to Him.
14
وَمَا تَفَرَّقُوٓا۟ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعِلْمُ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى لَّقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أُورِثُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لَفِى شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٍ wa mā tafarraqū illā min ba`di mā jā-ahumul `il-mu baghyan baynahum ۚ walawlā kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika ilā ajalin musamman laquḍiya baynahum ۚ wa innal ladhīna ūrithul kitāba min ba`dihim lafī shakkin minhu murīb Yet they did not differ about it until knowledge came to them, through rivalries among themselves. If the Word of your Lord, (staying) it for a time ordained, had not preceded it, the matter would have been settled among them. But those who came to inherit the Book after them are also in doubt and disturbed about it.
15
فَلِذَٰلِكَ فَٱدْعُ ۖ وَٱسْتَقِمْ كَمَآ أُمِرْتَ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۖ وَقُلْ ءَامَنتُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن كِتَـٰبٍ ۖ وَأُمِرْتُ لِأَعْدِلَ بَيْنَكُمُ ۖ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمْ ۖ لَنَآ أَعْمَـٰلُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَـٰلُكُمْ ۖ لَا حُجَّةَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ ۖ ٱللَّهُ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَنَا ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ falidhālika fad` ۖ wastaqim kamā umirt ۖ walā tattabi` ahwā-ahum ۖ waqul āmantu bimā anzalallāhu min kitāb ۖ wa-umirtu li-a`dila baynakum ۖ allāhu rabbunā warabbukum ۖ lanā a`mālunā walakum a`mālukum ۖ lā ḥujjata baynanā wabaynakum ۖ allāhu yajma`u baynanā ۖ wa ilayhil maṣīr Yet to that (law) you should call them, and be constant as commanded. Do not follow their passing whims, but say: "I believe in whatever Scripture God has revealed, and I am commanded to act with equivalence among you. God is our Lord and your Lord. To us our actions, to you your deeds. There is no dispute between you and us. God will gather us all together, and to Him is our returning."
16
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآجُّونَ فِى ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ٱسْتُجِيبَ لَهُۥ حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ wal ladhīna yuḥājjūna fillāhi min ba`di mas-tujība lahu ḥujjatuhum dāḥiḍatun `inda rabbihim wa`alayhim ghaḍabun walahum `adhābun shadīd As for those who argue in the matter of God after He has been fully acknowledged, their disputing has no force with their Lord. Upon them is (God's) anger, and the punishment for them will be severe.
17
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ ۗ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٌ allāhul ladhī anzalal-kitāba bil ḥaqqi wal mīzān ۗ wa mā yudrīka la`allas sā`ata qarīb It is God who has sent down the Book with the truth, and the Balance. How do you know the Hour is not near?
18
يَسْتَعْجِلُ بِهَا ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهَا ۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مُشْفِقُونَ مِنْهَا وَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا ٱلْحَقُّ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُمَارُونَ فِى ٱلسَّاعَةِ لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍۭ بَعِيدٍ yasta`jilu bihal ladhīna lā yu-minūna bihā ۖ wal ladhīna āmanū mushfiqūna minhā waya`lamūna annahal ḥaqq ۗ alā innal ladhīna yumārūna fis sā`ati lafī ḍalālin ba`īd Only they who do not believe in it wish to hasten it; but those who believe are in fear of it, for they know it to be true. Surely those who are in doubt about the Hour are wandering far astray.
19
ٱللَّهُ لَطِيفٌۢ بِعِبَادِهِۦ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْقَوِىُّ ٱلْعَزِيزُ allāhu laṭīfun bi`ibādihi yarzuqu man yashā-u ۖ wahuwal qawiyyul `azīz God is gracious to His creatures, and bestows favours on whosoever He will. He is all-powerful and all-mighty.
20
مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ نَزِدْ لَهُۥ فِى حَرْثِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ ٱلدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِهِۦ مِنْهَا وَمَا لَهُۥ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ مِن نَّصِيبٍ man kāna yurīdu ḥarthal-ākhirati nazid lahu fī ḥarthih ۖ wa man kāna yurīdu ḥarthad dunyā nu-tihi minhā wa mā lahu fil-ākhirati min naṣīb Whoever desires the fruits of the Hereafter, We shall add to his fruit. As for him who desires the fruits of this world, We shall give to him of these, but he will have no share in the Hereafter.
21
أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَـٰٓؤُا۟ شَرَعُوا۟ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَنۢ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةُ ٱلْفَصْلِ لَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ am lahum shurakā-u shara`ū lahum minad dīni mā lam ya-dhan bihillāh ۚ walawlā kalimatul faṣli laquḍiya baynahum ۗ wa innaẓ ẓālimīna lahum `adhābun alīm Have they other associates who have prescribed another law for them which has not been dispensed by God? But for the decisive Word (of God) a sentence would have been passed amongst them. Surely there is a grievous punishment for the ungodly.
22
تَرَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا كَسَبُوا۟ وَهُوَ وَاقِعٌۢ بِهِمْ ۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فِى رَوْضَاتِ ٱلْجَنَّاتِ ۖ لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَضْلُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ taraẓ ẓālimīna mushfiqīna mimmā kasabū wahuwa wāqi`un bihim ۗ wal ladhīna āmanū wa`amiluṣ ṣāliḥāti fī rawḍātil jannāt ۖ lahum mā yashā-ūna `inda rabbihim ۚ dhālika huwal faḍlul kabīr You will see the evil-doers full of fear of what they deserve, yet it will come to pass. But those who believe and do the right will be in gardens of Paradise. They will receive what they wish from their Lord; and this will be the greatest favour.
23
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يُبَشِّرُ ٱللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ ۗ قُل لَّآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا ٱلْمَوَدَّةَ فِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ ۗ وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُۥ فِيهَا حُسْنًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ dhālikal ladhī yubashhirullāhu `ibādahul ladhīna āmanū wa`amiluṣ ṣāliḥāt ۗ qul lā as-alukum `alayhi ajran illal-mawaddata fil qurbā ۗ wa man yaqtarif ḥasanatan nazid lahu fīhā ḥusnā ۚ innallāha ghafūrun shakūr This is the good news that God gives to His creatures who believe and do good. Say: "I ask no recompense of you for it other than obligations of relationship." We shall give more excellence to him who acquires excellence. Surely God forgives and accepts (gratitude).
24
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا ۖ فَإِن يَشَإِ ٱللَّهُ يَخْتِمْ عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ ۗ وَيَمْحُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْبَـٰطِلَ وَيُحِقُّ ٱلْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ am yaqūlūnaf-tarā `alallāhi kadhibā ۖ fa-in yasha-illāhu yakhtim `alā qalbik ۗ wayamḥullāhul bāṭila wayuḥiqqul ḥaqqa bikalimātih ۚ innahu `alīmun bidhātiṣ ṣudūr Do they say he has fabricated a lie about God? He could have sealed your hearts if He pleased; but God blots out the false and vindicates the truth by His dispensations, for He knows the secrets of the hearts.
25
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يَقْبَلُ ٱلتَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَنِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ wahuwal ladhī yaqbalut tawbata `an `ibādihi waya`fū `anis sayyi-āti waya`lamu mā taf`alūn It is He who accepts repentance from His creatures and forgives their trespasses, for He knows what you do.
26
وَيَسْتَجِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ wayastajībul ladhīna āmanū wa`amiluṣ ṣāliḥāti wayazīduhum min faḍlih ۚ wal kāfirūna lahum `adhābun shadīd He answers (the prayers) of those who believe and do good, and gives them more of His bounty. But for the unbelievers there is severe punishment.
27
وَلَوْ بَسَطَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِعِبَادِهِۦ لَبَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَـٰكِن يُنَزِّلُ بِقَدَرٍ مَّا يَشَآءُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرٌۢ بَصِيرٌ walaw basaṭallāhur rizqa li`ibādihi labaghaw fil-arḍi walākin yunazzilu biqadarin mā yashā-u ۚ innahu bi`ibādihi khabīrun baṣīr If God were to give in abundance to His creatures they would fill the earth with oppression. So He gives according to measure as He will. He knows (what is good for) His creatures. He is all-aware and all-seeing.
28
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُنَزِّلُ ٱلْغَيْثَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا قَنَطُوا۟ وَيَنشُرُ رَحْمَتَهُۥ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْوَلِىُّ ٱلْحَمِيدُ wahuwal ladhī yunazzilul ghaytha min ba`di mā qanaṭū wayanshuru raḥmatah ۚ wahuwal waliyyul ḥamīd It is He who sends down rain when they had despaired of it, and showers His benevolence. He is the protector worthy of praise.
29
وَمِنْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ خَلْقُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَثَّ فِيهِمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ جَمْعِهِمْ إِذَا يَشَآءُ قَدِيرٌ wa min āyātihi khalqus samāwāti wal-arḍi wa mā bathha fīhimā min dābbah ۚ wahuwa `alā jam`ihim idhā yashā-u qadīr The creation of the heavens and the earth and all the living things dispersed in them, are a sign of His. He has the power to gather them together when He will.
30
وَمَآ أَصَـٰبَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَن كَثِيرٍ wa mā aṣābakum min muṣībatin fabimā kasabat aydīkum waya`fū `an kathīr Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your deeds; yet He forgives much.
31
وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ wa mā antum bimu`jizīna fil-arḍ ۖ wa mā lakum min dūnillāhi min waliyyin walā naṣīr You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him.
32

33
إِن يَشَأْ يُسْكِنِ ٱلرِّيحَ فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ in yasha-yuskinir rīḥa fayaẓlalna rawākida `alā ẓahrih ۚ inna fī dhālika la-āyātin likulli ṣabbārin shakūr He could stop the wind if He pleased, then they would be stranded on its surface. Surely there are signs in this for every one who perseveres and is grateful.
34
أَوْ يُوبِقْهُنَّ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ وَيَعْفُ عَن كَثِيرٍ aw yūbiqhunna bimā kasabū waya`fu `an kathīr Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons.
35

36
فَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَىْءٍ فَمَتَـٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ famā ūtītum min shay-in famatā`ul ḥayātid dunyā ۖ wa mā `indallāhi khayrun wa-abqā lilladhīna āmanū wa`alā rabbihim yatawakkalūn Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord,
37
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُوا۟ هُمْ يَغْفِرُونَ wal ladhīna yajtanibūna kabā-iral-ithmi wal fawāḥisha wa idhā mā ghaḍibū hum yaghfirūn Who avoid the deadly sins, immoral acts, and forgive when they are angered,
38
وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَىٰ بَيْنَهُمْ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ wal ladhīnas-tajābū lirabbihim wa-aqāmuṣ ṣalāta wa-amruhum shūrā baynahum wa mimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūn Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them,
39

40
وَجَزَٰٓؤُا۟ سَيِّئَةٍ سَيِّئَةٌ مِّثْلُهَا ۖ فَمَنْ عَفَا وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَجْرُهُۥ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ wajazā-u sayyi-atin sayyi-atun mithluhā ۖ faman `afā wa-aṣlaḥa fa-ajruhu `alallāh ۚ innahu lā yuḥibbuẓ ẓālimīn The retribution of evil is the equal of evil (done); yet those who forgive and rehabilitate will be rewarded by God. Verily He does not like those who do wrong.

وَلَمَنِ ٱنتَصَرَ بَعْدَ ظُلْمِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ مَا عَلَيْهِم مِّن سَبِيلٍ walamanin-taṣara ba`da ẓul-mihi fa-ulā-ika mā `alayhim min sabīl If one avenges himself after he has been wronged, there is no way of blaming him.
42
إِنَّمَا ٱلسَّبِيلُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَظْلِمُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ وَيَبْغُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ innamas sabīlu `alal ladhīna yaẓlimūnan nāsa wayabghūna fil-arḍi bighayril ḥaqq ۚ ulā-ika lahum `adhābun alīm Blame lies on those who oppress, and terrorise the land unjustly. For them there is painful punishment.
43
وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ ٱلْأُمُورِ walaman ṣabara waghafara inna dhālika lamin `azmil-umūr But he who bears with patience and forgives, surely complies with divine resolve.
44
وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن وَلِىٍّ مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ ۗ وَتَرَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ يَقُولُونَ هَلْ إِلَىٰ مَرَدٍّ مِّن سَبِيلٍ wa man yuḍlilillāhu famā lahu min waliyyin min ba`dih ۗ wataraẓ ẓālimīna lammā ra-awul `adhāba yaqūlūna hal ilā maraddin min sabīl He whom God leads astray has no one except God to protect him. You should see the sinners when they face the punishment. They will say: "Isn't there a way of going back?"
45
وَتَرَىٰهُمْ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا خَـٰشِعِينَ مِنَ ٱلذُّلِّ يَنظُرُونَ مِن طَرْفٍ خَفِىٍّ ۗ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ فِى عَذَابٍ مُّقِيمٍ watarāhum yu`raḍūna `alayhā khāshi`īna minadh dhulli yanẓurūna min ṭarfin khafiyy ۗ waqālal ladhīna āmanū innal khāsirīnal ladhīna khasirū anfusahum wa-ahlīhim yawmal qiyāmah ۗ alā innaẓ ẓālimīna fī `adhābin muqīm You should see them brought before the Fire, abject in disgrace, looking stealthily. And those who believe will say: "They who forfeit their souls and families on the Day of Resurrection will really be losers." Is it not that sinners will suffer a lasting torment?
46
وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنْ أَوْلِيَآءَ يَنصُرُونَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن سَبِيلٍ wa mā kāna lahum min awliyā-a yanṣurūnahum min dūnillāh ۗ wa man yuḍlilillāhu famā lahu min sabīl They will have no protector to help them other than God. He whom God allows to go astray has no way.
47
ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ يَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلْجَإٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِيرٍ is-tajībū lirabbikum min qabli an ya-tiya yawmul lā maradda lahu minallāh ۚ mā lakum min malja-in yawma-idhin wa mā lakum min nakīr Hearken to your Lord before the Day arrives from God that will not be averted. You will have no place of refuge then nor time for denying.

فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا۟ فَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا ۖ إِنْ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ۗ وَإِنَّآ إِذَآ أَذَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةً فَرِحَ بِهَا ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَإِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ كَفُورٌ fa-in a`raḍū famā arsalnāka `alayhim ḥafīẓā ۖ in `alayka illal-balāgh ۗ wa innā idhā adhaqnal-insāna minnā raḥmatan fariḥa bihā ۖ wa in tuṣibhum sayyi-atun bimā qaddamat aydīhim fa-innal-insāna kafūr If they turn away (you are not responsible); We have not appointed you a warden over them. Your duty is to deliver the message. When We let man taste of Our favours he begins to exult; but if misfortune befalls him, as a consequence of his own deeds, man is surely then ungrateful.

لِّلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ يَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ إِنَـٰثًا وَيَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ٱلذُّكُورَ lillāhi mulkus samāwāti wal-arḍ ۚ yakhluqu mā yashā-u ۚ yahabu liman yashā-u ināthan wayahabu liman yashā-udh dhukūr To God belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates whatsoever He wills, bestows daughters on whosoever He will, and gives sons to whom He choose.
50
أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًا وَإِنَـٰثًا ۖ وَيَجْعَلُ مَن يَشَآءُ عَقِيمًا ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ aw yuzawwijuhum dhukrānan wa ināthā ۖ wayaj`alu man yashā-u `aqīmā ۚ innahu `alīmun qadīr On some He bestows both sons and daughters, and some He leaves issueless. He is all-knowing and all-powerful.
51
وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُكَلِّمَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا وَحْيًا أَوْ مِن وَرَآئِ حِجَابٍ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ رَسُولًا فَيُوحِىَ بِإِذْنِهِۦ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِىٌّ حَكِيمٌ wa mā kāna libasharin an yukallimahullāhu illā waḥyan aw min warā-i ḥijābin aw yursila rasūlan fayūḥiya bi-idhnihi mā yashā-u ۚ innahu `aliyyun ḥakīm It is not given to man that God should speak to him except by suggestion or indirectly, or send a messenger to convey by His command whatsoever He please. He is all-high and all-wise.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ رُوحًا مِّنْ أَمْرِنَا ۚ مَا كُنتَ تَدْرِى مَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ وَلَا ٱلْإِيمَـٰنُ وَلَـٰكِن جَعَلْنَـٰهُ نُورًا نَّهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن نَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ۚ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِىٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ wakadhālika awḥaynā ilayka rūḥan min amrinā ۚ mā kunta tadrī mal kitābu walal-iymānu walākin ja`alnāhu nūran nahdī bihi man nashā-u min `ibādinā ۚ wa innaka latahdī ilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīm So have We revealed to you the Qur'an by Our command. You did not know what the Scripture was before, nor (the laws of) faith. And We made it a light by which We show the way to those of Our creatures as We please; and you certainly guide them to the right path,

صِرَٰطِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَلَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ تَصِيرُ ٱلْأُمُورُ ṣirāṭillāhil ladhī lahu mā fis samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ ۗ alā ilallāhi taṣīrul-umūr The path of God to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And will not all things go back to God?
