بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.
1
تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ لِيَكُونَ لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ نَذِيرًا tabārakal ladhī nazzalal-furqāna `alā `abdihi liyakūna lil`ālamīna nadhīrā BLESSED IS HE who revealed the Criterion (of right and wrong) to His votary that it may be a warning for the world, --
2
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ شَرِيكٌ فِى ٱلْمُلْكِ وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ تَقْدِيرًا alladhī lahu mulkus samāwāti wal-arḍi walam yattakhidh waladan walam yakun lahu sharīkun fil mulki wakhalaqa kulla shay-in faqaddarahu taqdīrā He to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, who has neither begotten a son nor has He a partner in His kingdom, (who) created everything and determined its exact measure.
3
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً لَّا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ وَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ لِأَنفُسِهِمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ مَوْتًا وَلَا حَيَوٰةً وَلَا نُشُورًا wattakhadhū min dūnihi ālihatan lā yakhluqūna shay-an wahum yukhlaqūna walā yamlikūna li-anfusihim ḍarran walā naf`an walā yamlikūna mawtan walā ḥayātan walā nushūrā Yet they choose apart from Him gods who have not created any thing and have themselves been created, who possess no power over their loss or gain, or their death or life or being raised to life again.
4
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ إِفْكٌ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ وَأَعَانَهُۥ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ ءَاخَرُونَ ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءُو ظُلْمًا وَزُورًا waqālal ladhīna kafarū in hādhā illā ifkunif-tarāhu wa-a`ānahu `alayhi qawmun ākharūn ۖ faqad jā-ū ẓul-man wazūrā Yet the unbelievers say: "This is nothing but a lie he has concocted in which others have aided him." They have come down to mischief and lies.
5
وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٱكْتَتَبَهَا فَهِىَ تُمْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا waqālū asāṭīrul-awwalīnak-tatabahā fahiya tumlā `alayhi bukratan wa-aṣīlā And they say: "These are fables of antiquity he has invented, which are dictated to him morning and evening."
6
قُلْ أَنزَلَهُ ٱلَّذِى يَعْلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا qul anzalahul ladhī ya`lamus sirra fis samāwāti wal-arḍ ۚ innahu kāna ghafūran raḥīmā Say: "He who knows the secrets of the heavens and the earth has revealed it to me; and He is surely forgiving and kind."
7
وَقَالُوا۟ مَالِ هَـٰذَا ٱلرَّسُولِ يَأْكُلُ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشِى فِى ٱلْأَسْوَاقِ ۙ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ فَيَكُونَ مَعَهُۥ نَذِيرًا waqālū māli hādhar rasūli ya-kuluṭ ṭa`āma wayamshī fil-aswāqi lawlā unzila ilayhi malakun fayakūna ma`ahu nadhīrā But they say: "What sort of prophet is this who eats food and walks the market places? Why was no angel sent to him to act as admonisher with him?
8
أَوْ يُلْقَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ كَنزٌ أَوْ تَكُونُ لَهُۥ جَنَّةٌ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا ۚ وَقَالَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مَّسْحُورًا aw yulqā ilayhi kanzun aw takūnu lahu jannatun ya-kulu minhā ۚ waqālaẓ ẓālimūna in tattabi`ūna illā rajulan mas-ḥūrā Or a treasure should have been given to him, or he should have had an orchard from which he could eat." And these wicked people say: "You only follow a man ensorcelled."
9
ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلَ فَضَلُّوا۟ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًا un-ẓur kayfa ḍarabū lakal-amthāla faḍallū falā yastaṭī`ūna sabīlā Just see what comparisons they bring up for you! They are lost and cannot find the way.
10
تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِىٓ إِن شَآءَ جَعَلَ لَكَ خَيْرًا مِّن ذَٰلِكَ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ وَيَجْعَل لَّكَ قُصُورًۢا tabārakal ladhī in shā-a ja`ala laka khayran min dhālika jannātin tajrī min taḥtihal-anhāru wayaj`al laka quṣūrā Blessed be He who, if He pleased, could give you better than that, -- gardens with rivers flowing by; and make palaces for you.
11
بَلْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِٱلسَّاعَةِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِمَن كَذَّبَ بِٱلسَّاعَةِ سَعِيرًا bal kadhhabū bis sā`ah ۖ wa-a`tadnā liman kadhhaba bis sā`ati sa`īrā Yet they reject the Hour as untrue. We have prepared a Fire for those who deny the Resurrection.
12
إِذَا رَأَتْهُم مِّن مَّكَانٍۭ بَعِيدٍ سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا تَغَيُّظًا وَزَفِيرًا idhā ra-at-hum min makānin ba`īdin sami`ū lahā taghayyuẓan wazafīrā When (Hell) appears to them from a distance they will hear it raging and roaring.
13
وَإِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ مِنْهَا مَكَانًا ضَيِّقًا مُّقَرَّنِينَ دَعَوْا۟ هُنَالِكَ ثُبُورًا wa idhā ulqū minhā makānan ḍayyiqan muqarranīna da`aw hunālika thubūrā And when they are cast within a narrow space of it chained together, they would plead for death.
14
لَّا تَدْعُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ ثُبُورًا وَٰحِدًا وَٱدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا كَثِيرًا lā tad`ul yawma thubūran wāḥidan wad`ū thubūran kathīrā "Do not ask for one death but many deaths on this day."
15
قُلْ أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ أَمْ جَنَّةُ ٱلْخُلْدِ ٱلَّتِى وُعِدَ ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ ۚ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَآءً وَمَصِيرًا qul adhālika khayrun am jannatul khuldil latī wu`idal muttaqūn ۚ kānat lahum jazā-an wa maṣīrā Ask them: "Is this better or a garden for everlasting abode which has been promised the pious and devout? It would be their guerdon and their destination.
16
لَّهُمْ فِيهَا مَا يَشَآءُونَ خَـٰلِدِينَ ۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ وَعْدًا مَّسْـُٔولًا lahum fīhā mā yashā-ūna khālidīn ۚ kāna `alā rabbika wa`dan mas-ūlā There will they have whatever they wish, and there abide for ever." This is a promise incumbent on your Lord which will certainly be fulfilled.
17
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَقُولُ ءَأَنتُمْ أَضْلَلْتُمْ عِبَادِى هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ أَمْ هُمْ ضَلُّوا۟ ٱلسَّبِيلَ wayawma yaḥshuruhum wa mā ya`budūna min dūnillāhi fayaqūlu a-antum aḍlaltum `ibādī hā-ulā-i am hum ḍallus sabīl The day He will gather them together along with those they worshipped other than God, He will ask them: "Did you lure these creatures of Mine away, or did they themselves go astray?"
18
قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَـٰنَكَ مَا كَانَ يَنۢبَغِى لَنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ مِن دُونِكَ مِنْ أَوْلِيَآءَ وَلَـٰكِن مَّتَّعْتَهُمْ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَسُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًۢا بُورًا qālū subḥānaka mā kāna yanbaghī lanā an nattakhidha min dūnika min awliyā-a walākin matta`tahum wa-ābā-ahum ḥattā nasudh dhikra wakānū qawman būrā They will answer: "Glory to You. It was not worthy of us to seek any protector other than You. But You allowed them and their fathers a life of ease until they turned oblivious of the Reminder. They were a people impenitent.
19
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوكُم بِمَا تَقُولُونَ فَمَا تَسْتَطِيعُونَ صَرْفًا وَلَا نَصْرًا ۚ وَمَن يَظْلِم مِّنكُمْ نُذِقْهُ عَذَابًا كَبِيرًا faqad kadhhabūkum bimā taqūlūna famā tastaṭī`ūna ṣarfan walā naṣrā ۚ wa man yaẓlim minkum nudhiqhu `adhāban kabīrā (The idolaters will be told): "Your gods have refuted your assertion. You can neither avert (your doom) nor receive any help. We shall make the wicked among you taste of severe punishment."
20
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ لَيَأْكُلُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشُونَ فِى ٱلْأَسْوَاقِ ۗ وَجَعَلْنَا بَعْضَكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فِتْنَةً أَتَصْبِرُونَ ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ بَصِيرًا wa mā arsalnā qablaka minal mursalīna illā innahum laya-kulūnaṭ ṭa`āma wayamshūna fil-aswāq ۗ waja`alnā ba`ḍakum liba`ḍin fitnatan ataṣbirūn ۗ wakāna rabbuka baṣīrā We never sent before you apostles who did not eat food and walk the market places. We make some of you the means of trying the others. So will you persevere? Your Lord is always watching.
21
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَا ۗ لَقَدِ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْ عُتُوًّا كَبِيرًا waqālal ladhīna lā yarjūna liqā-anā lawlā unzila `alaynal malā-ikatu aw narā rabbanā ۗ laqadis-takbarū fī anfusihim wa`ataw `utuwwan kabīrā Those who do not hope to meet Us say: "Why are no angels sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?" They are full of self-conceit and behave with intense arrogance.
22
يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ لَا بُشْرَىٰ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْرًا مَّحْجُورًا yawma yarawnal malā-ikata lā bushrā yawma-idhin lil-mujrimīna wayaqūlūna ḥijran maḥjūrā The day they see the angels there will be no happy tidings for the sinners; and they will say: "There is an insurmountable barrier!"
23
وَقَدِمْنَآ إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ هَبَآءً مَّنثُورًا waqadimnā ilā mā `amilū min `amalin faja`alnāhu habā-an manthūrā We shall turn to their deeds and scatter them like particles of dust.
24
أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَيْرٌ مُّسْتَقَرًّا وَأَحْسَنُ مَقِيلًا aṣ-ḥābul jannati yawma-idhin khayrun mustaqarran wa-aḥsanu maqīlā The inmates of Paradise will have a better abode that day, and a better resting place.
25
وَيَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِٱلْغَمَـٰمِ وَنُزِّلَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ تَنزِيلًا wayawma tashaqqaqus samā-u bil ghamāmi wanuzzilal-malā-ikatu tanzīlā The day the heavens splits asunder with a dazzling white cloud gathering and the angels descend in a continuous stream,
26
ٱلْمُلْكُ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْحَقُّ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۚ وَكَانَ يَوْمًا عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ عَسِيرًا al-mulku yawma-idhinil-ḥaqqu lirraḥmān ۚ wakāna yawman `alal-kāfirīna `asīrā The real sovereignty will belong to Ar-Rahman. How grievous will be the day for the infidels!
27
وَيَوْمَ يَعَضُّ ٱلظَّالِمُ عَلَىٰ يَدَيْهِ يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى ٱتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ ٱلرَّسُولِ سَبِيلًا wayawma ya`aḍḍuẓ ẓālimu `alā yadayhi yaqūlu yālaytanit-takhadhtu ma`ar rasūli sabīlā The sinner will then bite his hand and say: "Would that I had taken the road with the Prophet.
28
يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰ لَيْتَنِى لَمْ أَتَّخِذْ فُلَانًا خَلِيلًا yāwaylatā laytanī lam attakhidh fulānan khalīlā Woe alas, ah would I had not taken so-and-so as friend!
29
لَّقَدْ أَضَلَّنِى عَنِ ٱلذِّكْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ جَآءَنِى ۗ وَكَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ خَذُولًا laqad aḍallanī `anidh dhikri ba`da idh jā-anī ۗ wakānash shayṭānu lilinsāni khadhūlā He led me astray from the Warning after it had come to me. Satan always betrays man.
30
وَقَالَ ٱلرَّسُولُ يَـٰرَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ مَهْجُورًا waqālar rasūlu yārabbi inna qawmit-takhadhū hādhal qur-āna mahjūrā The prophet will say: "O my Lord, my people had fettered the Qur'an."
31
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِىٍّ عَدُوًّا مِّنَ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ هَادِيًا وَنَصِيرًا wakadhālika ja`alnā likulli nabiyyin `aduwwan minal mujrimīn ۗ wakafā birabbika hādiyan wanaṣīrā Thus do We keep opponents among the sinners for every apostle; yet your Lord is sufficient as a guide and helper.
32
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ جُمْلَةً وَٰحِدَةً ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِۦ فُؤَادَكَ ۖ وَرَتَّلْنَـٰهُ تَرْتِيلًا waqālal ladhīna kafarū lawlā nuzzila `alayhil qur-ānu jumlatan wāḥidah ۚ kadhālika linuthabbita bihi fu-ādak ۖ warattalnāhu tartīlā The unbelievers say: "Why was the whole Qur'an not sent down all at once to him?" It was sent thus that We may keep your heart resolute. So We enunciated it by steps and distinctly.
33
وَلَا يَأْتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ إِلَّا جِئْنَـٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَأَحْسَنَ تَفْسِيرًا walā ya-tūnaka bimathalin illā ji-nāka bil ḥaqqi wa-aḥsana tafsīrā There is not an example they advance to which We do not give you a right answer and a better explanation.
34
ٱلَّذِينَ يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا alladhīna yuḥsharūna `alā wujūhihim ilā jahannama ulā-ika sharrun makānan wa-aḍallu sabīlā Those who will be pushed faces forward into Hell will be in a worse position, farther away from the path.
35
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَجَعَلْنَا مَعَهُۥٓ أَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ وَزِيرًا walaqad ātaynā mūsal kitāba waja`alnā ma`ahu akhāhu hārūna wazīrā We gave Moses the Book, and made his brother Aaron his minister,
36
فَقُلْنَا ٱذْهَبَآ إِلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهُمْ تَدْمِيرًا faqulnadh-habā ilal-qawmil ladhīna kadhhabū bi-āyātinā fadammarnāhum tadmīrā Then We told them: "Go to the people who have rejected Our signs." Then We annihilated them completely.
37
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ لَّمَّا كَذَّبُوا۟ ٱلرُّسُلَ أَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ لِلنَّاسِ ءَايَةً ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا waqawma nūḥin lammā kadhhabur rusula aghraqnāhum waja`alnāhum linnāsi āyah ۖ wa-a`tadnā liẓẓālimīna `adhāban alīmā We had drowned the people of Noah when they had accused the apostles of lies, and turned them into an example for men. We have prepared a painful punishment for the wicked.
38
وَعَادًا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَأَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلرَّسِّ وَقُرُونًۢا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ كَثِيرًا wa`ādan wathamūda wa-aṣ-ḥābar rassi waqurūnan bayna dhālika kathīrā (As for) 'Ad, Thamud and the people of ar-Rass, and many generations in between them,
39
وَكُلًّا ضَرَبْنَا لَهُ ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلَ ۖ وَكُلًّا تَبَّرْنَا تَتْبِيرًا wakullan ḍarabnā lahul-amthāl ۖ wakullan tabbarnā tatbīrā We administered warnings to each of them, and then destroyed them completely.
40
وَلَقَدْ أَتَوْا۟ عَلَى ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِىٓ أُمْطِرَتْ مَطَرَ ٱلسَّوْءِ ۚ أَفَلَمْ يَكُونُوا۟ يَرَوْنَهَا ۚ بَلْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ نُشُورًا walaqad ataw `alal-qaryatil latī umṭirat maṭaras saw-i ۚ afalam yakūnū yarawnahā ۚ bal kānū lā yarjūna nushūrā They must have surely passed by the town on which We had rained the terrible rain of ruin. How could they not have seen it? Still they do not dread the Resurrection.
41
وَإِذَا رَأَوْكَ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى بَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ رَسُولًا wa idhā ra-awka in yattakhidhūnaka illā huzuwan ahādhal ladhī ba`athallāhu rasūlā When they see you they take you only in jest: "Is this the one whom God has sent as messenger?
42
إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ ءَالِهَتِنَا لَوْلَآ أَن صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ ٱلْعَذَابَ مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا in kāda layuḍillunā `an ālihatinā lawlā an ṣabarnā `alayhā ۚ wasawfa ya`lamūna ḥīna yarawnal `adhāba man aḍallu sabīlā He would have surely turned us away from our gods if we had not adhered to them." They will know soon who is farther away from the path when they see the punishment!
43
أَرَءَيْتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَـٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلًا ara ayta manit-takhadha ilāhahu hawāhu afa-anta takūnu `alayhi wakīlā Have you considered him who takes his own lust for his god? Can you stand a surety for him?
44
أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ ۚ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ ۖ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا am taḥsabu anna aktharahum yasma`ūna aw ya`qilūn ۚ in hum illā kal-an`ām ۖ bal hum aḍallu sabīlā Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are no better than cattle; in fact they are farther astray from the path.
45
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ ٱلظِّلَّ وَلَوْ شَآءَ لَجَعَلَهُۥ سَاكِنًا ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا ٱلشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيلًا alam tara ilā rabbika kayfa maddaẓ ẓilla walaw shā-a laja`alahu sākinan thumma ja`alnash shamsa `alayhi dalīlā Have you not seen how your Lord lengthens out the shadow? He could have kept it motionless if He liked. Yet We make the sun its pilot to show the way.
46
ثُمَّ قَبَضْنَـٰهُ إِلَيْنَا قَبْضًا يَسِيرًا thumma qabaḍnāhu ilaynā qabḍan yasīrā Then We draw it back to Us, withdrawing it little by little.
47
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا وَٱلنَّوْمَ سُبَاتًا وَجَعَلَ ٱلنَّهَارَ نُشُورًا wahuwal ladhī ja`ala lakumul layla libāsan wan nawma subātan waja`alan nahāra nushūrā It is He who made the night a covering for you; and made sleep for rest, the day for rising.
48
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ ٱلرِّيَـٰحَ بُشْرًۢا بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً طَهُورًا wahuwal ladhī arsalar riyāḥa bushran bayna yaday raḥmatih ۚ wa-anzalnā minas samā-i mā-an ṭahūrā It is He who sends the winds with auspicious news in advance of His benevolence; and We send pure water down from the sky
49
لِّنُحْـِۧىَ بِهِۦ بَلْدَةً مَّيْتًا وَنُسْقِيَهُۥ مِمَّا خَلَقْنَآ أَنْعَـٰمًا وَأَنَاسِىَّ كَثِيرًا linuḥ-yiya bihi baldatan maytan wanusqiyahu mimmā khalaqnā an`āman wa-anāsiyya kathīrā To quicken a region that was dead, and to give it as drink to animals We have created and to men in plenty.
50
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَـٰهُ بَيْنَهُمْ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟ فَأَبَىٰٓ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا walaqad ṣarrafnāhu baynahum liyadhhakkarū fa-abā aktharun nāsi illā kufūrā And We distribute it among them in various ways that they may ponder and reflect; yet most men disdain everything but denial and thanklessness.
51
وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَبَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ قَرْيَةٍ نَّذِيرًا walaw shi-nā laba`athnā fī kulli qaryatin nadhīrā Had We pleased We could have raised a warner in every town.
52
