A Book We have sent down to you that you may lead men out of darkness into light, by their Lord's command, to the path of the mighty, the worthy of praise.

ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ allāhil ladhī lahu mā fis samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ ۗ wawaylul lilkāfirīna min `adhābin shadīd God, to whom belongs all there is in the heavens and the earth. Woe to the unbelievers for the terrible punishment (that awaits).

ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَحِبُّونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا عَلَى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۭ بَعِيدٍ alladhīna yastaḥibbūnal ḥayātad dunyā `alal-ākhirati wayaṣuddūna `an sabīlillāhi wayabghūnahā `iwajā ۚ ulā-ika fī ḍalālin ba`īd Those who hold the life of this world dearer than that of the next, who obstruct the path of God and seek obliquity in it, have wandered far into error.

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهِۦ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمْ ۖ فَيُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ wa mā arsalnā min rasūlin illā bilisāni qawmihi liyubayyina lahum ۖ fayuḍillullāhu man yashā-u wayahdī man yashā-u ۚ wahuwal `azīzul ḥakīm We never sent a messenger who did not speak the tongue of his people, that he may explain to them distinctly. God leads whosoever He wills astray, and shows whoever He wills the way: He is all-mighty and all-wise.

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ أَنْ أَخْرِجْ قَوْمَكَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ وَذَكِّرْهُم بِأَيَّىٰمِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ walaqad arsalnā mūsā bi-āyātinā an akhrij qawmaka minaẓ ẓulumāti ilan nūri wadhakkirhum bi-ayyāmillāh ۚ inna fī dhālika la-āyātin likulli ṣabbārin shakūr Remember when We sent Moses with Our signs (We said): "Bring your people out of darkness into light, and remind them of the visitations of God. Indeed there are signs in this for every steadfast, thankful soul"

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ أَنجَىٰكُم مِّنْ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَيُذَبِّحُونَ أَبْنَآءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَآءَكُمْ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكُم بَلَآءٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ wa idh qāla mūsā liqawmihidh-kurū ni`matallāhi `alaykum idh anjākum min āli fir`awna yasūmūnakum sū al `adhābi wayudhabbiḥūna abnā-akum wayastaḥyūna nisā-akum ۚ wafī dhālikum balā-un min rabbikum `aẓīm So Moses said to his people: "Remember the favours of God when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh who afflicted you with oppression, slaying your sons but keeping alive your women, which was a great trial from your Lord."

Their apostles came to them with clear proofs, but they tried to silence them and said: "We do not believe in what you have been sent with, and we are in doubt of what you call us to, about which we are in disquiet.'

He calls you to forgive some of your sins, and give you respite for a time ordained." They said: "You are only men like us, and yet you wish to turn us away from what our fathers worshipped. Bring to us then a clear proof."
11
قَالَتْ لَهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ إِن نَّحْنُ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَمُنُّ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ لَنَآ أَن نَّأْتِيَكُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ qālat lahum rusuluhum in naḥnu illā basharun mithlukum walākinnallāha yamunnu `alā man yashā-u min `ibādih ۖ wa mā kāna lanā an na-tiyakum bisulṭānin illā bi-idhnillāh ۚ wa`alallāhi falyatawakkalil mu-minūn Their apostles said to them: "Indeed we are men like you, but God bestows His favours on whomsoever He wills among His creatures. رَّبَّنَآ إِنِّىٓ أَسْكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّيَّتِى بِوَادٍ غَيْرِ ذِى زَرْعٍ عِندَ بَيْتِكَ ٱلْمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِيُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَٱجْعَلْ أَفْـِٔدَةً مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ تَهْوِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ وَٱرْزُقْهُم مِّنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْكُرُونَ rabbanā innī askantu min dhurriyyatī biwādin ghayri dhī zar`in `inda baytikal muḥarrami rabbanā liyuqīmuṣ ṣalāta faj`al af-idatan minan nāsi tahwy ilayhim warzuqhum minath thamarāti la`allahum yashkurūn I have settled some of my children, O Lord, in a barren valley near Your sacred House, so that, O our Lord, they may be constant in devotion. So put in the hearts of men some kindness for them, and provide fruits for them: They may haply be grateful.

رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ مَا نُخْفِى وَمَا نُعْلِنُ ۗ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ rabbanā innaka ta`lamu mā nukhfī wa mā nu`lin ۗ wa mā yakhfā `alallāhi min shay-in fil-arḍi walā fis samā-i O Lord, You have knowledge of what we hide and what we reveal, for nothing on the earth or in the skies is hidden from God.
39
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى وَهَبَ لِى عَلَى ٱلْكِبَرِ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّى لَسَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ al-ḥamdu lillāhil ladhī wahaba lī `alal-kibari ismā`īla wa is-ḥāq ۚ inna rabbī lasamī`ud du`ā-i All praise be to God who bestowed on me Ishmael and Isaac in old age. Verily my Lord listens to prayer.
40
رَبِّ ٱجْعَلْنِى مُقِيمَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِى ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَآءِ rabbij-`alnī muqīmaṣ ṣalāti wa min dhurriyyatī ۚ rabbanā wataqabbal du`ā-i Grant, O Lord, that I and my offspring may remain constant in devotion. Grant, O Lord, my supplication.
41
رَبَّنَا ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلْحِسَابُ rabbanagh-fir lī waliwālidayya walil-mu-minīna yawma yaqūmul ḥisāb O Lord, forgive me, my parents and the faithful on the Day the reckoning is done."
42
وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَـٰفِلًا عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ walā taḥsabannallāha ghāfilan `ammā ya`maluẓ ẓālimūn ۚ innamā yu-akhhiruhum liyawmin tashkhaṣu fīhil-abṣār Think not God is oblivious of the deeds of the wicked. He has only allowed them respite till the Day on which all eyes would stare aghast,
43
مُهْطِعِينَ مُقْنِعِى رُءُوسِهِمْ لَا يَرْتَدُّ إِلَيْهِمْ طَرْفُهُمْ ۖ وَأَفْـِٔدَتُهُمْ هَوَآءٌ muhṭi`īna muqni`ī ru-ūsihim lā yartaddu ilayhim ṭarfuhum ۖ wa-af-idatuhum hawā-u (And) they would hasten forward, heads lifted upwards, gazes fixed, and emptied out their hearts.
44
وَأَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ فَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ أَخِّرْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ نُّجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَنَتَّبِعِ ٱلرُّسُلَ ۗ أَوَلَمْ تَكُونُوٓا۟ أَقْسَمْتُم مِّن قَبْلُ مَا لَكُم مِّن زَوَالٍ wa-andhirin nāsa yawma ya-tīhimul `adhābu fayaqūlul ladhīna ẓalamū rabbanā akhhirnā ilā ajalin qarībin nujib da`wataka wanattabi`ir rusul ۗ awalam takūnū aqsamtum min qablu mā lakum min zawāl Warn the people of that Day when the punishment would be inflicted upon them. Then will the wicked say: "O our Lord, give us respite a while more. We shall heed Your call and follow the apostles." (But they will be told,): "Are you not those who used to swear: 'There is no reverse for us?'
45
وَسَكَنتُمْ فِى مَسَـٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ كَيْفَ فَعَلْنَا بِهِمْ وَضَرَبْنَا لَكُمُ ٱلْأَمْثَالَ wasakantum fī masākinil ladhīna ẓalamū anfusahum watabayyana lakum kayfa fa`alnā bihim waḍarabnā lakumul-amthāl Yet you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had exceeded themselves, and it was evident to you how We had dealt with them; and We held out examples before you."
46
وَقَدْ مَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرَهُمْ وَعِندَ ٱللَّهِ مَكْرُهُمْ وَإِن كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ ٱلْجِبَالُ waqad makarū makrahum wa`indallāhi makruhum wa in kāna makruhum litazūla minhul jibāl Still they are plotting their plots, but evident are their plots to God, even though they are so adroit as to make the mountains move.
47
فَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِفَ وَعْدِهِۦ رُسُلَهُۥٓ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ falā taḥsabannallāha mukhlifa wa`dihi rusulah ۗ innallāha `azīzun dhun-tiqām Think not that God would go back on His promise (made) to the apostles. Indeed God is mighty, the Lord of retribution.
48
يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ ٱلْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ ۖ وَبَرَزُوا۟ لِلَّهِ ٱلْوَٰحِدِ ٱلْقَهَّارِ yawma tubaddalul-arḍu ghayral-arḍi was samāwāt ۖ wabarazū lillāhil wāḥidil qahhār The day when the earth will he replaced by some other than the earth, as will be the skies, and every one will appear before God the one and omnipotent,
49
وَتَرَى ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّقَرَّنِينَ فِى ٱلْأَصْفَادِ wataral mujrimīna yawma-idhin muqarranīna fil-aṣfād You will see the wicked on that day bound together in chains.
50
سَرَابِيلُهُم مِّن قَطِرَانٍ وَتَغْشَىٰ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ sarābīluhum min qaṭirānin wataghshā wujūhahumun nār Of molten pitch shall be their garments, their faces covered with flames,
51
لِيَجْزِىَ ٱللَّهُ كُلَّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ liyajziyallāhu kulla nafsin mā kasabat ۚ innallāha sarī`ul ḥisāb That God may reward each soul for its deeds. Indeed God is swift at reckoning!

هَـٰذَا بَلَـٰغٌ لِّلنَّاسِ وَلِيُنذَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَلِيَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ وَلِيَذَّكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ hādhā balāghul linnāsi waliyundharū bihi waliya`lamū annamā huwa ilāhun wāḥidun waliyadhhakkara ulul-albāb This is a message for mankind that they may take a warning from it, and may know that He is the one and only God, and that men of wisdom may reflect.
