بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْفِيلِ alam tara kayfa fa`ala rabbuka bi-aṣ-ḥābil fīl HAVE YOU NOT seen how your Lord dealt with the people of the elephants?

أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍ alam yaj`al kaydahum fī taḍlīl Did He not make their plan go wrong,

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ wa-arsala `alayhim ṭayran abābīl And sent hordes of chargers flying against them,
4
تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ tarmīhim biḥijāratim min sijjīl (While) you were pelting them with stones of porphyritic lava,
5
فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍۭ faja`alahum ka`aṣfin ma-kūl And turned them into pastured fields of corn?
