At-Takāthur (#102)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.
1
أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ alhākumut takāthur THE AVARICE OF plenitude keeps you occupied
2
حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ ḥattā zurtumul maqābir Till you reach the grave.
3
كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ kallā sawfa ta`lamūn But you will come to know soon; --
4
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ thumma kallā sawfa ta`lamūn Indeed you will come to know soon.
5
كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ kallā law ta`lamūna `il-mal yaqīn And yet if you knew with positive knowledge
6
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ latarawunnal jaḥīm You have indeed to behold Hell;
7
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ thumma latarawunnahā `aynal yaqīn Then you will see it with the eye of certainty.
8
ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ thumma latus-alunna yawma-idhin `anin na`īm Then on that day you will surely be asked about the verity of pleasures.
