بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.
1
وَٱلْعَـٰدِيَـٰتِ ضَبْحًا wal `ādiyāti ḍabḥā I CALL TO witness the chargers, snorting, rushing to battle before the others,
2
فَٱلْمُورِيَـٰتِ قَدْحًا fal mūriyāti qad-ḥā Then those striking sparks of fire,
3
فَٱلْمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبْحًا fal mughīrāti ṣubḥā Then those charging in the morning
4
فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِۦ نَقْعًا fa-atharna bihi naq`ā Raising clouds of dust,
5
فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِۦ جَمْعًا fawasaṭna bihi jam`ā Penetrating deep into the armies,
6
إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٌ innal-insāna lirabbihi lakanūd That man is ungrateful to his Lord
7
وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ wa innahu `alā dhālika lashahīd And is himself witness to it,
8
وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ wa innahu liḥubbil khayri lashadīd And is intractable in his love of worldly goods.
9
أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِى ٱلْقُبُورِ afalā ya`lamu idhā bu`thira mā fil qubūr Does he not know when the contents of the graves are laid bare
10
وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ waḥuṣṣila mā fiṣ ṣudūr And the secrets of the hearts exposed,
11
إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيرٌۢ inna rabbahum bihim yawma-idhin lakhabīr Surely their Lord will be aware of their (deeds).
