اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
O' Allāh send Your blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm
In the Name of Allāh, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ قُلْتَ فِيْ كِتَابِكَ الْمُنْزَلِ
allāhumma innaka qulta fī kitābikal munzal
O Allah: You have said in Your revealed Book:
شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِيْ أُنزِلَ فِيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ
shahru ramaḍānal ladhī unzila fīhil qur-ān
“The month of Ramadhan in which the Quran was revealed…”
وَهَذَا شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ
wahadhā shahru ramaḍān
And this month of Ramadhan
وَقَدْ تَصَرَّمَ
waqad taṣarram
is about to slip away.
فَاَسْاَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ
fa-asaluka biwajhikal karīm
I thus beseech You in the name of Your Noble Face,
وَكَلِمَاتِكَ التَّامَّةِ
wakalimātikat tāmmah
And Your Perfect Words,
اِنْ كَانَ بَقِيَ عَلَيَّ ذَنْبٌ لَمْ تَغْفِرْهُ لِي
in kāna baqiya `alayya dhanbun lam taghfir-hu lī
If I am still liable to a sin that You have not yet forgiven
اَوْ تُرِيدُ اَنْ تُعَذِّبَنِيْ عَلَيْهِ
aw turīdu an tu`adhhibanī `alayh
or You want to punish me for it,
اَوْ تُقَايِسَنِيْ بِهِ
aw tuqāyisanī bih
or to retaliate upon me because of it,
اَنْ لَا يَطْلُعَ فَجْرُ هٰذِهِ اللَيْلَةِ
an lā yaṭlu`a fajru hādhihil laylah
(I beseech You that) before dawn of this night rises
اَوْ يَتَصَرَّمَ هٰذَا الشَّهْرُ
aw yataṣarrama hādhash shahr
And before this moth elapses
إِلَّا وَقَدْ غَفَرْتَهُ لِي
illā waqad ghafar-tahu lī
(please) forgive it for me;
يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
yā ar-ḥamar rāḥimīn
O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِمَحَامِدِكَ كُلِّهَا
allāhumma lakal ḥamdu bimaḥāmidika kullihā
O Allah: all praise be to You in all expressions of praise—
أَوَّلِهَا وَ آخِرِهَا
awwalihā wa ākhirihā
The first and the last expressions;
مَا قُلْتَ لِنَفْسِكَ مِنْهَا
mā qulta linafsika minhā
Expressions that You have said about Yourself,
وَمَا قَالَ الْخَلائِقُ الْحَامِدُونَ
wamā qālal khalā-iqul ḥāmidūn
And expressions that have been used by the created beings;
اَلْمُجْتَهِدُوْنَ الْمَعْدُودُونَ
al mujtahidūnal ma`dūdūn
The beings that are diligent, selected,
اَلْمُوَفَّرُونَ ذِكْرَكَ
al muwaffarūna dhikrak
Revering their mention of You,
وَالشُّكْرَكَ لَكَ
wash shukraka lak
And their thanking You,
اَلَّذِيْنَ أَعَنْتَهُمْ عَلَى أَدَاءِ حَقِّكَ
al ladhīna a`antahum `alā adā-i ḥaqqik
Whom You helped carry out Your duty that is incumbent upon them,
مِنْ أَصْنَافِ خَلْقِكَ
min aṣnāfi khalqik
From among the varieties of Your creatures;
مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ
minal malā-ikatil muqarrabīn
Such as the Favorite Angels,
وَالنَّبِيِّيْنَ وَالْمُرْسَلِيْنَ
wan nabiyyīna walmur-salīn
The Prophets, the Messengers,
وَأَصْنَافِ النَّاطِقِيْنَ
wa-aṣnāfin nāṭiqīn
And the other varieties who speak of Your praise
وَالْمُسَبِّحِيْنَ لَكَ مِنْ جَمِيْعِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
walmusabbiḥīna laka min jamī`il `ālamīn
And glorify You from among all the creatures.
عَلَى أَنَّكَ بَلَّغْتَنَا شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ
`alā annaka ballaghtanā shahra ramaḍān
(Praise be to You for) You have allowed us to witness the month of Ramadhan,
وَعَلَيْنَا مِنْ نِعَمِكَ
wa`alaynā min ni`amik
While we are covered by Your graces
وَعِنْدَنَا مِنْ قِسَمِكَ وَإِحْسَانِكَ
wa`indanā min qisamika wa-iḥsānik
And we are enjoying Your bounties and favors
وَتَظَاهُرِ امْتِنَانِكَ
wataẓāhurimtinānik
And Your evident conferrals.
فَبِذَالِكَ لَكَ مُنْتَهَى الْحَمْدِ
fabidhālika laka muntahal ḥamd
For all that, the ultimate praise be to You,
اَلْخَالِدِ الدَّآئِمِ
al khālidid dā-im
Praise that is perpetual and ceaseless
اَلرَّاكِدِ الْمُخَلِّدِ السَّرْمَدِ
ar rākidil mukhallidis sar-mad
And endless and eternal and everlasting
اَلَّذِيْ لَا يَنْفَدُ طُوْلَ الْاَبَدِ
al ladhī lā yanfadu ṭūlal abad
Praise that never ends evermore.
جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُكَ
jalla thana-uk
Splendid be the praising of You,
أَعَنْتَنَا عَلَيْهِ حَتّىٰ قَضَيْتَ عَنَّا صِيَامَهُ وَقِيَامَهُ
a`antanā `alayhi ḥattā qaḍayta `annā ṣiyāmahu waqiyāmah
For You have helped us accomplish our fasting and acts of worship in this month,
مِنْ صَلاَةٍ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَّا فِيْهِ مِنْ بِرٍّ
min ṣalātin wamā kāna minnā fīhi min birr
Including prayers and whatever good deed that we have done during this month
اَوْ شُكْرٍ اَوْ ذِكْرٍ
aw shukrin aw dhikr
As well as all praise and mention of You.
اَللَّهُمَّ فَتَقَبَّلْهُ مِنَّا بِأَحْسَنِ قَبُولِكَ
allāhumma fataqabbalhu minnā bi-aḥsani qabūlik
O Allah: (please) accept all that from us with the most excellent of Your approval
وَتَجَاوُزِكَ وَعَفْوِكَ
watajāwuzika wa`afwik
And Your overlooking and Your pardoning
وَصَفْحِكَ وَغُفْرَانِكَ
waṣafḥika waghufrānik
And Your excusing and Your forgiving
وَحَقِيْقَةِ رِضْوَانِكَ
waḥaqīqati riḍwānik
And the actuality of Your pleasure
حَتّىٰ تُظَفِّرَنَا فِيْهِ بِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ مَطْلُوْبٍ
ḥattā tuẓaffiranā fīhi bikulli khayrin maṭlūb
So that You may make us win all good turns that is besought
وَجَزِيْلِ عَطَاءٍ مَوْهُوْبٍ
wajazīli `aṭā-in mawhūb
And the abundant share from any gifted bestowal
وَتُوْقِيْنَا فِيْهِ مِنْ كُلِّ مَرْهُوْبٍ
watūqīnā fīhi min kulli mar-hūb
And that You save us from any dangerous matter,
اَوْ بَلاَءٍ مَجْلُوْبٍ
aw balā-in majlūb
Or any anticipated misfortune
اَوْ ذَنْبٍ مَكْسُوْبٍ
aw dhanbin maksūb
Or any committed sin.
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّ أَسْئَلُكَ بِعَظيْمِ مَا سَأَلَكَ بِهِ أَحَدٌ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
allāhumma inni as-aluka bi`aẓymi mā sa-alaka bihi aḥadun min khalqik
O Allah: I beseech You in the name of the greatest of all these by which any of Your servants have besought You,
مِنْ كَرِيْمِ أَسْمَائِكَ
min karīmi asmā-ik
Including Your Noble Names,
وَجَمِيْلِ ثَنَائِكَ
wajamīli thanā-ik
And the excellent praising of You
وَخَاصَّةِ دُعَائِكَ
wakhāṣṣati du`ā-ik
And private supplication to You
اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
an tuṣalliya `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
That You may send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَاَنْ تَجْعَلَ شَهْرَنَا هٰذَا أَعْظَمَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ مَرَّ عَلَيْنَا
wa-an taj`ala shahranā hādhā a`ẓama shahri ramaḍāna marra `alaynā
And You may decide this month of Ramadhan to be the greatest month in blessings that we have ever witnessed
مُنْذُ أَنْزَلْتَنَا إِلَى الدُّنْيَا بَرَكَةً
mundhu anzaltanā ilad dunyā barakah
Since we were sent down to this world,
فِيْ عِصْمَةِ دِيْنِي
fī `iṣmati dīnī
As regarding protection of my religion,
وَخَلاَصِ نَفْسِي
wakhalāṣi nafsī
And redemption of myself
وَقَضَاءِ حَوَآئِجِي
waqaḍā-i ḥawā-ijī
And settlement of my needs
وَتُشَفِّعَنِيْ فِيْ مَسَآئِلِي
watushaffi`anī fī masā-ilī
And that You may accept my intercession to You concerning Your settlement of my requests
وَتَمَامِ النِّعْمَةِ عَلَيَّ
watamāmin ni`mati `alayy
And Your perfecting Your graces upon me
وَصَرْفِ السُّوْءِ عَنِّيْ
waṣar-fis sū-i `annī
And Your keeping evil away from me
وَلِبَاسِ الْعَافِيَةِ لِيْ فِيْهِ
walibāsil `āfiyati lī fīh
And Your dressing me with well-being during this month,
وَاَنْ تَجْعَلَنِيْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِمَّنْ اَدْخَرْتَ لَهُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ
wa-an taj`alanī biraḥmatika mimman adkhar-ta lahu laylatal qadr
And that You may include me, out of Your mercy, with those whom You allowed to obtain the benefits of the Grand Night
وَجَعَلْتَهَا لَهُ خَيْرًا مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ
waja`altahā lahu khayran min alfi shahr
And those for whom You have decided this Night to be better than one thousand months,
فِيْ أَعْظَمِ الْأَجْرِ
fī a`ẓamil ajr
As regarding obtaining its vastest rewards,
وَكَرَائِمِ الذُّخْرِ
wakarā-imidh dhukhr
And its noblest gifts
وَحُسْنِ الشُّكْرِ
waḥusnish shukr
And approving praiseworthiness
وَطُوْلِ العُمْرِ
waṭūlil `umr
And obtaining long lifetime
وَدَوَامِ الْيُسْرِ
wadawāmil yusr
And perpetuity of comfort.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ وَطَوْلِكَ
allāhumma wa-as-aluka biraḥmatika waṭawlik
O Allah: I also beseech You in the name of Your mercy and Your beneficence
وَعَفْوِكَ وَنَعْمَائِكَ
wa`afwika wana`mā-ik
And Your pardon and Your graces
وَجَلاَلِكَ وَقَدِيْمِ إِحْسَانِكَ وَامْتِنَانِكَ
wajalālika waqadīmi iḥsānika wamtinānik
And Your majesty and Your eternal favoring and conferral
اَنْ لَا تَجْعَلَهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنَّا لِشَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ
an lā taj`alahu-ākhiral `ahdi minnā lishahri ramaḍān
That You may not decide this month of Ramadhan to be the last one in our lifetime;
حَتَّى تُبَلِّغَنَاهُ مِنْ قَابِلٍ عَلَى أَحْسَنِ حَالٍ
ḥattā tuballighanāhu min qābilin `alā aḥsani ḥāl
Rather, You may decide us to catch the coming month of Ramadhan while we enjoy the best of manners
وَتُعَرِّفَنِيْ هِلاَلَهُ مَعَ النَّاظِرِيْنَ إِلَيْهِ وَالْمُعْتَرِفِيْنَ لَهُ
watu`arrifanī hilālahu ma`an nāẓirīna ilayhi walmu`tarifīna lah
And that You may decide us to see the new moon of the next month of Ramadhan by including me with those who will see it and realize its value
فِيْ أَعْفىٰ عَافِيَتِكَ
fī a`fā `āfiyatik
While I am enjoying the best wellbeing
وَاَنْعَمِ نِعْمَتِكَ
wa-an`ami ni`matik
And the most blissful of Your bounties
وَاَوْسَعِ رَحْمَتِكَ
wa-awsa`i raḥmatik
And the most expansive of Your mercy
وَأَجْزَلِ قِسَمِكَ
wa-ajzali qisamik
And the most abundant of the share of Your sustenance that You decide for me.
يَا رَبِّيَ الَّذِيْ لَيْسَ لِيْ رَبٌّ غَيْرُهُ
yā rabbiyal ladhī laysa lī rabbun ghayruh
O my Lord save Whom I have no lord;
لَا يَكُوْنُ هٰذَا الْوِدَاعُ مِنِّيْ لَهُ وِدَاعَ فَنَاءٍ
lā yakūnu hādhal widā`u minnī lahu widā`a fana
(please) do not decide that this words of bidding the month of Ramadhan farewell to be the last farewell after which there will be my termination
وَلَا آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنِّيْ لِلِقَاءِ
walā-ākhiral `ahdi minnī liliqā
And do not decide this time to be the last of my meeting the month of Ramadhan;
حَتّىٰ تُرِيَنِيْهِ مِنْ قَابِلٍ فِيْ اَوْسَعِ النِّعَمِ وَأَفْضَلِ الرَّجَاءِ
ḥattā turiyanīhi min qābilin fī awsa`in ni`ami wa-afḍalir rajā
Rather, You may decide that You will enable me to witness the coming Ramadhan while I am enjoying the most expansive graces and attaining the best of my hopes
وَأَنَا لَكَ عَلَى أَحْسَنِ الْوَفَاءِ
wa-ana laka `alā aḥsanil wafā
And I am loyal to You in the most faithful manner.
إِنَّكَ سَمِيْعُ الدُّعَاءِ
innaka samī`ud du`ā
Verily, You are the Hearer of prayers.
اَللَّهُمَّ اسْمَعْ دُعَآئِي
allāhummasma` du`ā-ī
O Allah: (please) respond to my prayer,
وَارْحَمْ تَضَرُّعِيْ وَتَذَلُّلِيْ لَكَ
war-ḥam taḍarru`ī watadhallulī lak
And have mercy upon my acquiescence and submission before You
وَاسْتِكَانَتِيْ وَتَوَكُّلِيْ عَلَيْكَ
wastikānatī watawakkulī `alayk
As well as my humbleness and reliance upon You,
وَأَنَا لَكَ مُسَلِّمٌ
wa-ana laka musallim
While I am totally subservient to You;
لَا أَرْجُوْ نَجَاحًا وَلَا مُعَافَاةً
lā ar-jū najāḥan walā mu`āfāh
I hope success and wellbeing
وَلَا تَشْرِيْفًا وَلَا تَبْلِيْغًا إِلَّا بِكَ وَمِنْكَ
walā tashrīfan walā tablīghan illā bika wamink
And honoring and attainment of my hopes from none save You and through none save You;
وَامْنُنْ عَلَيَّ
wamnun `alayy
So, (please) do this favor to me—
جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُكَ
jalla thana-uk
Splendid be the praising of You,
وَتَقَدَّسَتْ أَسْمَاؤُكَ
wataqaddasat asma-uk
And sacred be Your Names—
بِتَبْلِيْغِ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ وَأَنَا مُعَافًا مِنْ كُلِّ مَكْرُوْهٍ وَمَحْذُوْرٍ
bitablīghi shahra ramaḍāna wa-ana mu`āfan min kulli makrūhin wamaḥdhūr
By allowing me to witness the (coming) month of Ramadhan while I am delivered from any apprehensive and fearful matter
وَمِنْ جَمِيْعِ الْبَوَائِقِ
wamin jamī`il bawā-iq
And from all misfortunes.
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِيْ أَعَانَنَا عَلَى صِيَامِ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ وَقِيَامِهِ
al ḥamdu lillāhil ladhī a`ānanā `alā ṣiyāmi hādhash shahri waqiyāmih
All praise be to Allah Who has helped us observe fasting during this month and do acts of worship
حَتّىٰ بَلَّغَنِيْ آخِرَ لَيْلَةِ مِنْهُ
ḥattā ballaghanī-ākhira laylati minh
Until I am witnessing the last night of this month.
