1
allāhumma innī waqaftu `alā bāb
O Allah, I am standing at one of the doors
2
min abwābi buyūti nabiyyik
of Your Prophet’s Houses—
3
ṣalawātuka `alayhi wa-ālih
may Your blessings be upon him and his Household.
4
waqad mana`tan nāsa an yadkhulū illā bi-idhnih
And You have prevented people to enter there before they obtain his permission.
5
faqulta yā ayyuhal ladhīna-āmanū
You have thus said, “O ye who believe!
6
lā tadkhulū buyūtan nabiyyi illā an yu-dhana lakum
Enter not the Prophet's houses until leave is given you.”
7
allāhumma innī a`taqidu ḥur-mata ṣāḥibi hādhal mash-hadish sharyfi fī ghaybatih
O Allah, I believe in the sanctity of the owner of this holy shrine in his absence
8
kamā a`taqiduhā fī ḥaḍratih
as same as I believe in it in his presence.
9
wa`lamu anna rasūlaka wakhulafā-aka `alayhimus salām
I also know for sure that Your Messenger and Your Representatives—peace be upon them—
10
aḥyā-un `indaka yur-zaqūn
are live, finding their sustenance in the presence of You;
11
yarawna maqāmī
they can see my place,
12
wayasma`ūna kalāmī
hear my words,
13
wayaruddūna salāmī
and respond to my greetings,
14
wa-annaka ḥajabta `an sam`ī kalāmahum
but You have prevented my hearing from receiving their words
15
wafataḥta bāba fahmī biladhīdhi munājātihim
and You have opened the door of my understanding to taste the fine flavor of my confidential speech with
16
wa-innī asta-dhinuka yā rabbi awwalā
I thus ask Your permission—O my Lord—first of all,
17
wa asta-dhinu rasūlaka ṣallallāhu `alayhi wa-ālihi thāniyā
the permission of Your Prophet—peace be upon him and his Household—secondly,
18
wa asta-dhinu khalīfataka al-imām
the permission of Your Representative, the Imam
19
al mafrūḍa `alayya ṭā`atuh
the obedience to whom is incumbent upon me…
State the name of the personality you are visiting, like '`Ali ibn Musa al-Rida'
20
walmalā-ikatal muwakkalīna bihādhihil buq`atil mubārakati thālithā
…and the permission of the angels whom are commissioned to supervise this blessed area, thirdly.
21
a adkhulu yā rasūlallāh
May I enter, O Messenger of Allah?
22
a adkhulu yā ḥujjatallāh
May I enter, O Argument of Allah?
23
a adkhulu yā malā-ikatallāhil muqarrabīn
May I enter, O angels of Allah—the intimate,
24
al muqīmīna fī hādhal mash-had
the residing in this shrine?
25
fa-dhan lī yā mawlā-ya fid dukhūl
So, [please do] permit me to enter, O my Master,
26
afḍala mā adhinta li-aḥadin min awliyā-ik
in the best way of permission that you have ever conferred upon any of your intimate adherents.
27
fa-in lam akun ahlan lidhālik
If I do not deserve such permission,
28
fa-anta ahlun lidhālik
then you are worthy of conferring it upon me.
You may then kiss the holy doorstep [of the shrine] and enter, saying:
29
bismillāhi wabillāh
In the Name of Allah [I begin], in Allah [I trust],
30
wafī sabīlillāh
on the way of Allah [I proceed],
31
wa`alā millati rasūlillāh
and on the norm of the Messenger of Allah,
32
ṣallallāhu `alayhi wa-ālih
may Allah bless him and his Household.
33
allāhummaghfir lī
O Allah, [please do] forgive me,
34
war-ḥamnī watub `alayy
have mercy upon me, and accept my repentance,
35
innaka antat tawwābur raḥīm
for You are verily the Oft-Returning, the All-Merciful.
