1
allāhumma innī waqaftu `alā bābin min abwābi buyūti nabiyyika ṣalawātuka `alayhi wa ālih
O Allah I stand still at one of the doors of the houses of Your Prophet [Your blessings be on him and on his children],
2
wa qad mana`tan nāsa ay yadkhulū illā bīdhnih
because people are not allowed to enter without his permission.
3
faqulta ya-ā ayyuhal ladhīna āmanū lā tadkhulū buyūtan nabiyyi illā ay yu-dhana lakum
So You said: “O you who believe! Enter not the dwellings of the Prophet unless permission be granted to you.”
4
allāhumma innī a`taqidu ḥur-mata ṣāḥibi hādhal mash-hadish sharīf
O Allah! I hold [as an article of faith] this honoured place of pilgrimage as sacred,
5
fī ghaybatihi kamā a`taqiduhā fī ḥaḍratih
in his invisibility just as I was certain and sure of his sanctity in his presence.
6
wa a`lamu anna rasūlaka wa khulafā-aka `alayhimus salāmu aḥya-ā
I know that Your Apostle and Your Representatives [peace be on them] are alive,
7
`indaka yur-zaqūna yarawna maqāmī
by Your permission and are being sustained, seeing my place of halting,
8
wa yasma`ūna kalāmī wa yaruddūna salāmī
hearing my words and answering my “Salaam”.
9
wa annaka ḥajabta `an sam`ī kalāmahum
Although You have shut off their speech from my hearing
10
wa fataḥta bāba fahmī biladhīdhi munājātihim
but has unbolted the door of my understanding, because of my delightful recitation of their merits.
11
wa innī astadhinuka yā rabbi awwalaw wa asta-dhinu rasūlaka ṣallallāhu `alayhi wa ālihi thāniyā
First I ask for Your permission O my Lord and then seek Your Apostle’s leave [Blessings of Allah be on him and on his children]
12
wa asta-dhinu khalīfatakal imāmal mafrūḍa `alayya ṭā`atuh
and take permission from Your representative, obedience unto whom has been made obligatory on me,
13
`aliyyibni mūsarriḍā `alayhimas salām
Ali Ibn Moosa al-Reza [a.s.]upon you peace
14
wal malā-ikatal muwakkalīna bihādhihil buq`atil mubārakati thālithā
And also from the angels, appointed as guardians of this blessed precinct.
15
a adkhulu yā rasūlallāhi a adkhulu yā ḥujjatallāh
May I enter O Apostle of Allah? May I enter O Hujjatullah [proof of Allah]?
16
a adkhulu yā malā-ikatallāhil muqarrabīnal muqīmīna fī hādhal mash-had
May I enter O favourite angels of Allah, quartered in this place of pilgrimage ?
17
fa-dhan lī yā mawlāya fid dukhūli afḍala mā adhinta li-aḥadim min awliyā-ik
Give permission to enter, O my Master, a most cordial welcome that is extended to any of your closest friends;
18
fa-in lam akun ahlan lidhālika fa-anta ahlun lah
may be I do not deserve it, but you are known to do it.
