1
سَلاَمُ اللَّهِ وَسَلَامُ مَلَائِكَتِهِ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ
salāmullāhi wasalāmu malā-ikatihil muqarrabīn
Peace of Allah and peace of His close angels
2
وَأَنْبِيَائِهِ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ
wa-anbiyā-ihil mur-salīn
And His sent prophets
3
وَعِبَادِهِ الصَالِحِيْنَ
wa`ibādihil ṣāliḥīn
And His righteous servants
4
وَجَمِيْعِ الشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصِّدِّيْقِيْنَ
wajamī`ish shuhadā-i waṣ ṣiddīqīn
And all martyrs and the truthful ones
5
وَالزَّاكِيَاتُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ فِيْمَا تَغْتَدِيْ وَتَرُوْحُ
waz zākiyātuṭ ṭayyibātu fīmā taghtadī watarūḥ
And pure blessings which come and go
6
عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ أَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
`alayka yabna amīril mu-minīn
Upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful
7
أَشْهَدُ لَكَ بِالتَّسْلِيْمِ وَالتَّصْدِيْقِ
ash-hadu laka bittaslīmi wat taṣdīq
I bear witness to your submission and truthfulness
8
وَالْوَفَاءِ وَالنَّصِيْحَةِ
walwafā-i wan naṣīḥah
And loyalty and sincerity
9
لِخَلَفِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ الْمُرْسَلِ
likhalafin nabiyyi ṣallallāhu `alayhi wa-ālihil mur-sal
To the successor of the Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, the Messenger
10
وَالسِّبْطِ الْمُنْتَجَبِ
was sibṭil muntajab
And the chosen grandson
11
وَالدَّلِيْلِ الْعَالِمِ
wad dalīlil `ālim
And the knowledgeable guide
12
وَالْوَصِيِّ الْمُبَلِّغِ
walwaṣiyyil muballigh
And the conveying successor
13
وَالْمَظْلُوْمِ الْمُهْتَضَمِ
walmaẓlūmil muhtaḍam
And the oppressed and wronged one
14
فَجَزَاكَ اللَّهُ عَنْ رَسُوْلِهِ
fajazākallāhu `an rasūlih
May Allah reward you on behalf of His Messenger
15
وَعَنْ أَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
wa`an amīril mu-minīn
And on behalf of the Commander of the Faithful
16
وَعَنِ الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ
wa`anil ḥasani walḥusayn
And on behalf of Hasan and Husayn
17
صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ
ṣalawātullāhi `alayhim
Peace of Allah be upon them
18
أَفْضَلَ الْجَزَاءِ
afḍalal jazā
With the best reward
19
بِمَا صَبَرْتَ وَاحْتَسَبْتَ وَأَعَنْتَ
bimā ṣabar-ta waḥtasabta wa-a`ant
For your patience, anticipation of reward, and assistance
20
فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَى الدَّارِ
fani`ma `uqbad dār
How excellent is the final abode
21
لَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ قَتَلَكَ
la`anallāhu man qatalak
May Allah curse those who killed you
22
وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ جَهِلَ حَقَّكَ
wala`anallāhu man jahila ḥaqqak
And may Allah curse those who were ignorant of your rights
23
وَاسْتَخَفَّ بِحُرْمَتِكَ
wastakhaffa biḥur-matik
And belittled your sanctity
24
وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ حَالَ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ مَاءِ الْفُرَاتِ
wala`anallāhu man ḥāla baynaka wabayna mā-il furāt
And may Allah curse those who prevented you from the water of the Euphrates
25
أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قُتِلْتَ مَظْلُوْمًا
ash-hadu annaka qutilta maẓlūmā
I bear witness that you were killed unjustly
26
وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مُنْجِزٌ لَكُمْ مَا وَعَدَكُمْ
wa-annallāha munjizun lakum mā wa`adakum
And that Allah will fulfill what He promised you
27
جِئْتُكَ يَا بْنَ أَمِيْرِ المُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَافِدًا إِلَيْكُمْ
ji-tuka yabna amīril mu-minīna wāfidan ilaykum
I have come to you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful, as a delegate to you
28
وَقَلْبِيْ مُسَلِّمٌ لَكُمْ وَتَابِعٌ
waqalbī musallimun lakum watābi`
And my heart submits to you and follows you
29
وَأَنَا لَكُمْ تَابِعٌ
wa-ana lakum tābi`
And I am your follower
30
وَنُصْرَتِيْ لَكُمْ مُعَدَّةٌ
wanuṣratī lakum mu`addah
And my support for you is prepared
31
حَتَّى يَحْكُمَ اللَّهُ
ḥattā yaḥkumallāh
Until Allah judges
32
وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْحَاكِمِيْنَ
wahuwa khayrul ḥākimīn
And He is the best of judges
33
فَمَعَكُمْ مَعَكُمْ
fama`akum ma`akum
So I am with you, with you
34
لَا مَعَ عَدُوِّكُمْ
lā ma`a `aduwwikum
Not with your enemies
35
إِنِّيْ بِكُمْ وَبِإِيَابِكُمْ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
innī bikum wabi-iyābikum minal mu-minīn
Truly I believe in you and in your return
36
وَبِمَنْ خَالَفَكُمْ وَقَتَلَكُمْ مِنَ الْكَافِرِيْنَ
wabiman khālafakum waqatalakum minal kāfirīn
And I disbelieve in those who opposed you and killed you
37
قَتَلَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً قَتَلَتْكُمْ بِالْأَيْدِيْ وَالْأَلْسُنِ
qatalallāhu ummatan qatalatkum bil aydī wal-alsun
May Allah destroy the nation that killed you with hands and tongues
You should then enter, throw yourself on the tomb, and say the following words:
38
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا العَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ
as salāmu `alayka ayyuhal `abduṣ ṣāliḥ
Peace be upon you, O righteous servant
39
اَلمُطِيْعُ لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُوْلِهِ وَلِأَمِيْرِ المُؤْمِنِيْنَ
al muṭī`u lillāhi walirasūlihi wali-amīril mu-minīn
Obedient to Allah, to His Messenger, and to the Commander of the Faithful
40
وَالحَسَنِ وَالحُسَيْنِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَسَلَّمَ
wālḥasani wālḥusayni ṣallallāhu `alayhim wasallam
And to Hasan and Husayn, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon them
41
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
as salāmu `alayka waraḥmatullāhi wabarakātuh
Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings
42
وَمَغْفِرَتُهُ وَرِضْوَانُهُ وَعَلَى رُوْحِكَ وَبَدَنِكَ
wamaghfiratuhu wariḍwānuhu wa`alā rūḥika wabadanik
And His forgiveness and pleasure, and upon your soul and body
43
أَشْهَدُ وَأُشْهِدُ اللَّهَ أَنَّكَ مَضَيْتَ عَلَى مَا مَضَى بِهِ البَدْرِيُّوْنَ
ash-hadu wa-ush-hidullāha annaka maḍayta `alā mā maḍā bihil badriyyūn
I bear witness and call Allah to witness that you died upon what the warriors of Badr died upon
44
وَالمُجَاهِدُوْنَ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللَّهِ
wāl-mujāhidūna fī sabīlillāh
And the fighters in the way of Allah
45
اَلمُنَاصِحُوْنَ لَهُ فِيْ جِهَادِ أَعْدَائِهِ
al munāṣiḥūna lahu fī jihādi a`dā-ih
Those who were sincere to Him in fighting His enemies
46
اَلمُبَالِغُوْنَ فِيْ نُصْرَةِ أَوْلِيَائِهِ
al mubālighūna fī nuṣrati awliyā-ih
Those who exerted themselves in supporting His friends
47
اَلذَّابُّوْنَ عَنْ أَحِبَّائِهِ
adh dhābbūna `an aḥibbā-ih
Those who defended His beloved ones
48
فَجَزَاكَ اللَّهُ أَفْضَلَ الجَزَاءِ
fajazākallāhu afḍalal jazā
So may Allah reward you with the best reward
49
وَأَكْثَرَ الجَزَاءِ
wa-aktharal jazā
And the most abundant reward
50
وَأَوْفَرَ الجَزَاءِ
wa-awfaral jazā
And the most plentiful reward
51
وَأَوْفَى جَزَاءِ أَحَدٍ مِمَّنْ وَفَى بِبَيْعَتِهِ
wa-awfā jazā-i aḥadin mimman wafā bibay`atih
And the most complete reward of anyone who fulfilled their pledge
52
وَاسْتَجَابَ لَهُ دَعْوَتَهُ
wastajāba lahu da`watah
And responded to His call
53
وَأَطَاعَ وُلَاةَ أَمْرِهِ
wa-aṭā`a wulāta amrih
And obeyed the guardians of His command
54
أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ بَالَغْتَ فِيْ النَّصِيْحَةِ
ash-hadu annaka qad bālaghta fin naṣīḥah
I bear witness that you gave the utmost in sincerity
55
وَأَعْطَيْتَ غَايَةَ المَجْهُوْدِ
wa-a`ṭayta ghāyatal majhūd
And exerted your greatest effort
56
فَبَعَثَكَ اللَّهُ فِيْ الشُّهَدَاءِ
faba`athakallāhu fish shuhadā
So Allah has raised you among the martyrs
57
وَجَعَلَ رُوْحَكَ مَعَ أَرْوَاحِ السُّعَدَاءِ
waja`ala rūḥaka ma`a ar-wāḥis su`adā
And placed your soul with the souls of the blessed ones
58
وَأَعْطَاكَ مِنْ جِنَانِهِ أَفْسَحَهَا مَنْزِلًا
wa-a`ṭāka min jinānihi afsaḥahā manzilā
And given you the most spacious dwelling in His gardens
59
وَأَفْضَلَهَا غُرَفًا
wa-afḍalahā ghurafā
And the most excellent chambers
60
وَرَفَعَ ذِكْرَكَ فِيْ عِلِّيِّيْنَ
warafa`a dhikraka fī `illiyyīn
And elevated your mention in Illiyyin (the highest heaven)
61
وَحَشَرَكَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ وَالصِّدِّيْقِيْنَ
waḥasharaka ma`an nabiyyīna waṣ ṣiddīqīn
And gathered you with the Prophets and the truthful ones
62
وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِيْنَ
wash shuhadā-i waṣ ṣāliḥīn
And the martyrs and the righteous ones
63
وَحَسُنَ أُوْلٰئِكَ رَفِيْقًا
waḥasuna ūlā-ika rafīqā
And how excellent are those as companions
64
أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ لَمْ تَهِنْ وَلَمْ تَنْكُلْ
ash-hadu annaka lam tahin walam tankul
I bear witness that you did not weaken nor turn back
65
وَأَنَّكَ مَضَيْتَ عَلَى بَصِيْرَةٍ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ
wa-annaka maḍayta `alā baṣīratin min amrik
And that you proceeded with clear insight in your affairs
66
مُقْتَدِيًا بِالصَّالِحِيْنَ
muqtadiyan biṣṣāliḥīn
Following the example of the righteous ones
67
وَمُتَّبِعًا لِلنَّبِيِّيْنَ
wamuttabi`an linnabiyyīn
And following the prophets
68
فَجَمَعَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ
fajama`allāhu baynanā wabaynak
May Allah gather us with you
69
وَبَيْنَ رَسُوْلِهِ وَأَوْلِيَائِهِ
wabayna rasūlihi wa-awliyā-ih
And with His Messenger and His friends
70
فِيْ مَنَازِلِ المُخْبِتِيْنَ
fī manāzilil mukhbitīn
In the dwellings of the humble ones
71
فَإِنَّهُ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
fa-innahu ar-ḥamur rāḥimīn
For He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy
