اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ
as salāmu `alayka yā mawlāy
Peace be upon you, O my master.
2
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ
as salāmu `alayka yā ḥujjatallāh
Peace be upon you, O Allah’s Argument [against His creatures].
3
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صِفْوَةَ اللَّهِ
as salāmu `alayka yā ṣifwatallāh
Peace be upon you, O Allah’s choice.
4
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَالِصَةَ اللَّهِ
as salāmu `alayka yā khāliṣatallāh
Peace be upon you, O Allah’s select.
5
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا قَتِيْلَ الظَّمَاءِ
as salāmu `alayka yā qatīlaẓ ẓamā
Peace be upon you, O victim of thirst.
6
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا غَرِيْبَ الْغُرَبَاءِ
as salāmu `alayka yā gharībal ghurabā
Peace be upon you, O strangest of all strangers.
7
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ سَلاَمَ مُوَدِّع
as salāmu `alayka salāma muwaddi`
Peace be upon you; this is the greeting of one who has to bid farewell to you
8
لَا سَئِمٍ وَلَا قَالٍ
lā sa-imin walā qāl
although he is neither bored with you nor tired of you.
9
فَإِنْ اَمْضِ فَلَا عَنْ مَلَالَةٍ
fa-in amḍi falā `an malālah
If I leave [you], this is not because of weariness;
10
وَإِنْ اُقِمْ فَلَا عَنْ سُوْءِ ظَنٍّ بِمَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الصَّابِرِيْنَ
wa-in uqim falā `an sū-i ẓannin bimā wa`adallāhuṣ ṣābirīn
and if I reside, this is not because of mistrusting the promise that Allah has made for the serene ones.
11
لَا جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنِّيْ لِزِيَارَتِكَ
lā ja`alahullāhu-ākhiral `ahdi minnī liziyāratik
May Allah not decide this time of my visit to be the last.
12
وَرَزَقَنِيَ اللَّهُ الْعَوْدَ إِلَى مَشْهَدِكَ
warazaqaniyallāhul `awda ilā mash-hadik
May He endue me with more chances to return to your shrine,
13
وَالْمَقَامَ بِفَنَائِكَ
walmaqāma bifanā-ik
to reside in your courtyard,
14
وَالْقِيَامَ فِيْ حَرَمِكَ
walqiyāma fī ḥaramik
and to stay in your sanctuary.
15
وَإِيَّاهُ اَسْأَلُ اَنْ يُسْعِدَنِيْ بِكُمْ
wa-iyyāhu as-alu an yus`idanī bikum
To Him do I pray to make me delightful with you
16
وَيَجْعَلَنِيْ مَعَكُمْ فِيْ الدُّنْيَا وَالْأٓخِرَةِ
wayaj`alanī ma`akum fid dunyā wal-ākhirah
and to include me with you in this world and in the Hereafter.
