بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm
In the name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
O Allah bless Muhammad and his family
اِلٰهِيْ كَيْفَ اَدْعُوْكَ وَ قَدْ عَصَيْتُكَ
ilāhī kayfa ad`ūka wa qad `aṣaytuk
My God, how can I beseech You when I have disobeyed You
وَ كَيْفَ لَا اَدْعُوْكَ وَ قَدْ عَرَفْتُ حُبَّكَ فِيْ قَلْبِيْ
wa kayfa lā ad`ūka wa qad `araftu ḥubbaka fī qalbī
and how can I not beseech You when I have known Your love in my heart
وَ اِنْ كُنْتُ عَاصِيًا
wa in kuntu `āṣiyā
As I am a sinner
مَدَدْتُ اِلَيْكَ يَدًا بِالذُّنُوْبِ مَمْلُوْءَةً
madadtu ilayka yadan bidhhunūbi mamlū-ah
I have stretched my hand to You, full of sins,
وَ عَيْنًا بِالرَّجَاءِ مَمْدُوْدَةً
wa `aynan birrajā-i mamdūdah
and my eyes with stretched out hope
مَوْلَايَ اَنْتَ عَظِيْمُ الْعُظَمَاءِ، وَ اَنَا اَسِيْرُ الْاُسَرَاءِ
mawlāya anta `aẓīmul `uẓamā-i, wa ana asīrul usarā
My Master, You are the Greatest of the Great and I am the most wretched of prisoners
اَنَا الْاَسِيْرُ بِذَنْبِيْ، اَلْمُرْتَهَنُ بِجُرْمِيْ
anal asīru bidhanbī, al mur-tahanu bijur-mī
I am a prisoner of my sins a mortgagee of my crimes
اِلٰهِيْ لَئِنْ طَالَبْتَنِيْ بِذَنْبِيْ لَأُطَالِبَنَّكَ بِكَرَمِكَ
ilāhī la-in ṭālabtanī bidhanbī la-uṭālibannaka bikaramik
My God if You seek me out for my sins I will seek You out for Your generosity
وَ لَئِنْ طَالَبْتَنِيْ بِجَرِيْرَتِيْ لَأُطَالِبَنَّكَ بِعَفْوِكَ
wa la-in ṭālabtanī bijarīratī la-uṭālibannaka bi`afwik
and if You seek me for my crimes I will seek You for Your pardon
وَ لَئِنْ اَمَرْتَ بِيْ اِلَى النَّارِ لَأُخْبِرَنَّ اَهْلَهَا
wa la-in amar-ta bī ilan nāri la-ukhbiranna ahlahā
and if You command me to the Fire I will inform the people of the Fire
اَنِّيْ كُنْتُ اَقُوْلُ
annī kuntu aqūl
that I used to say:
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللَّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُوْلُ اللَّهِ
lā ilāha illallāhu muḥammadun rasūlullāh
there is no god but Allah (47:19) Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah (48:29)
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّ الطَّاعَةَ تَسُرُّكَ، وَ الْمَعْصِيَةَ لَا تَضُرُّكَ
allāhumma innaṭ ṭā`ata tasurruk, wal ma`ṣiyata lā taḍurruk
O Allah obedience pleases You and disobedience does not harm You
فَهَبْ لِيْ مَا يَسُرُّكَ، وَ اغْفِرْ لِيْ مَا لَا يَضُرُّكَ
fahab lī mā yasurruk, waghfir lī mā lā yaḍurruk
so grant me what pleases You and forgive me what does not harm You
يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
yā ar-ḥamar rāḥimīn
O most Merciful
