بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
1
إِلٰهِيْ قَصُرَتِ الْاَلْسُنُ عَنْ بُلُوغِ ثَنَائِكَ
ilāhī qaṣuratil alsunu `an bulūghi thanā-ik
My God, tongues fall short of reaching Your praise
2
كَمَا يَلِيقُ بِجَلالِكَ
kamā yalīqu bijalālik
As befits Your Majesty
3
وَعَجَزَتِ الْعُقُولُ عَنْ إِدْرَاكِ كُنْهِ جَمَالِكَ
wa`ajazatil `uqūlu `an idrāki kunhi jamālik
And minds are incapable of comprehending the essence of Your Beauty
4
وَانْحَسَرَتِ الْاَبْصَارُ دُوْنَ النَّظَرِ إِلَى سُبُحَاتِ وَجْهِكَ
wanḥasaratil abṣāru dūnan naẓari ilā subuḥāti wajhik
And eyes are unable to gaze at the splendor of Your Face
5
وَلَمْ تَجْعَلْ لِلْخَلْقِ طَرِيقًا إِلَى مَعْرِفَتِكَ
walam taj`al lilkhalqi ṭarīqan ilā ma`rifatik
And You have not made for creation a path to Your knowledge
6
إِلَّا بِالْعَجْزِ عَنْ مَعْرِفَتِكَ
illā bil `ajzi `an ma`rifatik
Except through the inability to truly know You
7
إِلٰهِيْ فَاجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ تَرَسَّخَتْ أَشْجَارُ الشَّوْقِ
ilāhī faj`alnā minal ladhīna tarassakhat ashjārush shawq
My God, make us among those in whose hearts
8
إِلَيْكَ فِيْ حَدَائِقِ صُدُورِهِمْ
ilayka fī ḥadā-iqi ṣudūrihim
The trees of longing for You are firmly rooted
9
وَأَخَذَتْ لَوْعَةُ مَحَبَّتِكَ بِمَجَامِعِ قُلُوبِهِمْ
wa-akhadhat law`atu maḥabbatika bimajāmi`i qulūbihim
And the passion of Your love has seized their hearts
10
فَهُمْ إِلَى أَوْكَارِ الْاَفْكَارِ يَأْوُونَ
fahum ilā awkāril afkāri ya-wūn
So they take refuge in the nests of contemplation
11
وَفِيْ رِيَاضِ الْقُرْبِ وَالْمُكَاشَفَةِ يَرْتَعُونَ
wafī riyāḍil qur-bi walmukāshafati yar-ta`ūn
And in the gardens of nearness and unveiling they graze
12
وَمِنْ حِيَاضِ الْمَحَبَّةِ بِكَأْسِ الْمُلاطَفَةِ يَكْرَعُونَ
wamin ḥiyāḍil maḥabbati bika-sil mulāṭafati yakra`ūn
And from the pools of love with the cup of kindness they drink deeply
13
وَشَرَائِعَ الْمُصَافَاةِ يَرِدُونَ
washarā-i`al muṣāfāti yaridūn
And to the springs of pure friendship they arrive
14
قَدْ كُشِفَ الْغِطَاءُ عَنْ أَبْصَارِهِمْ
qad kushifal ghiṭā-u `an abṣārihim
The veil has been lifted from their eyes
15
وَانْجَلَتْ ظُلْمَةُ الرَّيْبِ عَنْ عَقَائِدِهِمْ وَضَمَائِرِهِمْ
wanjalat ẓulmatur raybi `an `aqā-idihim waḍamā-irihim
And the darkness of doubt has been removed from their beliefs and consciences
16
وَانْتَفَتْ مُخَالَجَةُ الشَّكِّ عَنْ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَسَرَائِرِهِمْ
wantafat mukhālajatush shakki `an qulūbihim wasarā-irihim
And the intrusion of uncertainty has been eliminated from their hearts and innermost thoughts
17
وَانْشَرَحَتْ بِتَحْقِيقِ الْمَعْرِفَةِ صُدُوْرُهُمْ
wansharaḥat bitaḥqīqil ma`rifati ṣudūruhum
And their chests have been expanded through the verification of knowledge
18
وَعَلَتْ لِسَبْقِ السَّعَادَةِ فِيْ الزَّهَادَةِ هِمَمُهُمْ
wa`alat lisabqis sa`ādati fiz zahādati himamuhum
And their aspirations have been elevated through precedence of happiness in detachment
19
وَعَذُبَ فِيْ مَعِيْنِ الْمُعَامَلَةِ شِرْبُهُمْ
wa`adhuba fī ma`īnil mu`āmalati shir-buhum
And their drink has become sweet from the spring of good conduct
20
وَطَابَ فِيْ مَجْلِسِ الْأُنْسِ سِرُّهُمْ
waṭāba fī majlisil unsi sirruhum
And their inner secrets have become pleasant in the gathering of intimacy
21
وَأَمِنَ فِيْ مَوْطِنِ الْمَخَافَةِ سِرْبُهُم
wa-amina fī mawṭinil makhāfati sir-buhum
And they feel secure in the place of fear
22
وَاطْمَأَنَّتْ بِالرُّجُوعِ إِلَى رَبِّ الْاَرْبَابِ أَنْفُسُهُمْ
waṭma-annat birrujū`i ilā rabbil ar-bābi anfusuhum
And their souls have found tranquility in returning to the Lord of Lords
23
وَتَيَقَّنَتْ بِالْفَوْزِ وَالْفَلاحِ أَرْوَاحُهُمْ
watayaqqanat bil fawzi walfalāḥi ar-wāḥuhum
And their spirits have attained certainty of success and prosperity
24
وَقَرَّتْ بِالنَّظَرِ إِلَى مَحْبُوبِهِمْ أَعْيُنُهُمْ
waqarrat binnaẓari ilā maḥbūbihim a`yunuhum
And their eyes have been delighted by gazing at their Beloved
25
وَاسْتَقَرَّ بِإِدْرَاكِ السُّؤْلِ وَنَيْلِ الْمَأْمُولِ قَرَارُهُمْ
wastaqarra bi-idrākis su-li wanaylil ma-mūli qarāruhum
And they have found stability through achieving their requests and attaining their hopes
26
وَرَبِحَتْ فِيْ بَيْعِ الدُّنْيَا بِالْآخِرَةِ تِجَارَتُهُمْ
warabiḥat fī bay`id dunyā bil-ākhirati tijāratuhum
And their trade has profited in selling this world for the Hereafter
27
إِلٰهِيْ مَا أَلَذَّ خَوَاطِرَ الْاِلْهَامِ بِذِكْرِكَ عَلَى الْقُلُوبِ
ilāhī mā aladhha khawāṭiral ilhāmi bidhikrika `alal qulūb
My God, how delightful are the thoughts of inspiration with Your remembrance upon the hearts
28
وَمَا أَحْلَى الْمَسِيرَ إِلَيْكَ بِالْاَوْهَامِ فِيْ مَسَالِكِ الْغُيُوبِ
wamā aḥlal masīra ilayka bil awhāmi fī masālikil ghuyūb
And how sweet is the journey to You through contemplation along the paths of the unseen
29
وَمَا أَطْيَبَ طَعْمَ حُبِّكَ
wamā aṭyaba ṭa`ma ḥubbik
And how pleasant is the taste of Your love
30
وَمَا أَعْذَبَ شُرْبَ قُرْبِكَ
wamā a`dhaba shur-ba qur-bik
And how sweet is the drink of Your nearness
31
فَأَعِذْنَا مِنْ طَرْدِكَ وَإِبْعَادِكَ
fa-a`idhnā min ṭar-dika wa-ib`ādik
So protect us from Your rejection and dismissal
32
وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنْ أَخَصِّ عَارِفِيكَ
waj`alnā min akhaṣṣi `ārifīk
And make us among Your most special knowers
33
وَأَصْلَحَ عِبَادِكَ
wa-aṣlaḥa `ibādik
And Your most righteous servants
34
وَأَصْدَقَ طَائِعِيكَ
wa-aṣdaqa ṭā-i`īk
And Your most truthful followers
35
وَأَخْلَصَ عُبَّادِكَ
wa-akhlaṣa `ubbādik
And Your most sincere worshippers
36
يَا عَظِيمُ يَا جَلِيلُ
yā `aẓīmu yā jalīl
O Magnificent, O Majestic
37
يَا كَرِيمُ يَا مُنِيلُ
yā karīmu yā munīl
O Generous, O Bestower
38
بِرَحْمَتِكَ وَمَنِّكَ
biraḥmatika wamannik
By Your mercy and Your favor
39
يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
yā ar-ḥamar rāḥimīn
O Most Merciful of the merciful ones
