بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
bismillāhir rḥmānir raḥīm
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
2
إِلٰهِيْ أَذْهَلَنِيْ عَنْ إِقَامَةِ شُكْرِكَ تَتَابُعُ طَوْلِكَ
ilāhī adh-halanī `an iqāmati shukrika tatābu`u ṭawlik
My God, the succession of Your favors has distracted me from thanking You
3
وَأَعْجَزَنِيْ عَنْ إِحْصَاءِ ثَنَائِكَ فَيْضُ فَضْلِكَ
wa-a`jazanī `an iḥṣā-i thanā-ika fayḍu faḍlik
And the flood of Your grace has rendered me incapable of counting Your praises
4
وَشَغَلَنِيْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ مَحَامِدِكَ تَرَادُفُ عَوَائِدِكَ
washaghalanī `an dhikri maḥāmidika tarādufu `awā-idik
And the succession of Your benefits has occupied me from mentioning Your glories
5
وَأَعْيَانِيْ عَنْ نَشْرِ عَوَارِفِكَ تَوَالِيْ أَيَادِيْكَ
wa-a`yānī `an nashri `awārifika tawālī ayādīk
And the continuity of Your kindnesses has exhausted me from spreading word of Your good deeds
6
وَهٰذَا مَقَامُ مَنِ اعْتَرَفَ بِسُبُوغِ النَّعْمَاءِ
wahādhā maqāmu mani`tarafa bisubūghin na`mā
And this is the position of one who acknowledges the abundance of blessings
7
وَقَابَلَهَا بِالتَّقْصِيرِ
waqābalahā bittaqṣīr
And has met them with shortcomings
8
وَشَهِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بِالْاِهْمَالِ وَالتَّضْيِيعِ
washahida `alā nafsihi bil ihmāli wat taḍyī`
And testifies against himself of negligence and waste
9
وَأَنْتَ الرَّءُوفُ الرَّحِيمُ
wa-antar ra-ūfur raḥīm
And You are the Kind, the Merciful
10
اَلْبَرُّ الْكَرِيمُ
al barrul karīm
The Benevolent, the Generous
11
اَلَّذِيْ لَا يُخَيِّبُ قَاصِدِيهِ
al ladhī lā yukhayyibu qāṣidīh
The One who does not disappoint those who seek Him
12
وَلَا يَطْرُدُ عَنْ فِنَائِهِ آمِلِيهِ
walā yaṭrudu `an finā-ihi-āmilīh
And does not drive away from His courtyard those who hope in Him
13
بِسَاحَتِكَ تَحُطُّ رِحَالُ الرَّاجِينَ
bisāḥatika taḥuṭṭu riḥālur rājīn
In Your arena, the mounts of the hopeful kneel down
14
وَبِعَرْصَتِكَ تَقِفُ آمَالُ الْمُسْتَرْفِدِيْنَ
wabi`ar-ṣatika taqifu-āmālul mustar-fidīn
And in Your field, the hopes of seekers stand
15
فَلَا تُقَابِلْ آمَالَنَا بِالتَّخْيِيبِ وَالْاِيَاسِ
falā tuqābil-āmālanā bittakhyībi wal-iyās
So do not meet our hopes with disappointment and despair
16
وَلَا تُلْبِسْنَا سِرْبَالَ الْقُنُوطِ وَالْاِبْلاَسِ
walā tulbisnā sir-bālal qunūṭi wal-iblās
And do not clothe us in the garment of despondency and dismay
17
إِلٰهِيْ تَصَاغَرَ عِنْدَ تَعَاظُمِ آلاَئِكَ شُكْرِي
ilāhī taṣāghara `inda ta`āẓumi-ālā-ika shukrī
My God, my gratitude seems small compared to the magnitude of Your blessings
18
وَتَضَاءَلَ فِيْ جَنْبِ إِكْرَامِكَ إِيَّايَ ثَنَائِيْ وَنَشْرِي
wataḍā-ala fī janbi ikrāmika iyyāya thanā-ī wanashrī
And my praise and acknowledgment shrink beside Your honoring of me
19
جَلَّلَتْنِيْ نِعَمُكَ مِنْ أَنْوَارِ الْاِيـمَانِ حُلَلًا
jallalatnī ni`amuka min anwāril īmāni ḥulalā
Your blessings have robed me in garments from the lights of faith
20
وَضَرَبَتْ عَلَيَّ لَطَائِفُ بِرِّكَ مِنَ الْعِزِّ كِلَلًا
waḍarabat `alayya laṭā-ifu birrika minal `izzi kilalā
And the subtleties of Your kindness have placed upon me crowns of honor
21
وَقَلَّدَتْنِيْ مِنَنُكَ قَلائِدَ لَا تُحَلُّ
waqalladatnī minanuka qalā-ida lā tuḥall
And Your favors have adorned me with necklaces that cannot be untied
22
وَطَوَّقَتْنِيْ أَطْوَاقًا لَا تُفَلُّ
waṭawwaqatnī aṭwāqan lā tufall
And have collared me with collars that cannot be broken
23
فَآلاَؤُكَ جَمَّةٌ
fa-ālā-uka jammah
So Your blessings are abundant
24
ضَعُفَ لِسَانِيْ عَنْ إِحْصَائِهَا
ḍa`ufa lisānī `an iḥṣā-ihā
My tongue is too weak to count them
25
وَنَعْمَاؤُكَ كَثِيرَةٌ
wana`ma-uka kathīrah
And Your favors are numerous
26
قَصُرَ فَهْمِيْ عَنْ إِدْرَاكِهَا
qaṣura fahmī `an idrākihā
My understanding falls short of comprehending them
27
فَضْلًا عَنِ اسْتِقْصَائِهَا
faḍlan `anistiqṣā-ihā
Let alone enumerating them all
28
فَكَيْفَ لِيْ بِتَحْصِيلِ الشُّكْرِ
fakayfa lī bitaḥṣīlish shukr
So how can I achieve proper gratitude?
29
وَشُكرِيْ إِيَّاكَ يَفْتَقِرُ إِلَى شُكْرٍ
washukrī iyyāka yaftaqiru ilā shukr
When even my thanks to You requires further thanks
30
فَكُلَّمَا قُلْتُ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ
fakullamā qultu lakal ḥamd
For whenever I say to You, "Praise be to You"
31
وَجَبَ عَلَيَّ لِذٰلِكَ أَنْ أَقولَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wajaba `alayya lidhālika an aqula lakal ḥamd
It becomes incumbent upon me to say again, "Praise be to You"
32
إِلٰهِيْ فَكَمَا غَذَّيْتَنَا بِلُطْفِكَ
ilāhī fakamā ghadhhaytanā biluṭfik
My God, as You have nourished us with Your kindness
33
وَرَبَّيْتَنَا بِصُنْعِكَ
warabbaytanā biṣun`ik
And raised us with Your craftsmanship
34
فَتَمِّمْ عَلَيْنَا سَوَابِغَ النِّعَمِ
fatammim `alaynā sawābighan ni`am
Complete for us the ample blessings
35
وَادْفَعْ عَنَّا مَكَارِهَ النِّقَمِ
wadfa` `annā makārihan niqam
And repel from us the detested punishments
36
وَ آتِنَا مِنْ حُظُوظِ الدَّارَيْنِ
wa ātinā min ḥuẓūẓid dārayn
And grant us from the fortunes of both worlds
37
أَرْفَعَهَا وَ جَلَّهَا عَاجِلًا وَاجِلًا
ar-fa`ahā wa jallahā `ājilan wājilā
The highest and most glorious, both immediate and in the future
38
وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَى حُسْنِ بَلائِكَ
walakal ḥamdu `alā ḥusni balā-ik
And for You is all praise for Your excellent trials
39
وَسُبُوغِ نَعْمَائِكَ
wasubūghi na`mā-ik
And the abundance of Your blessings
40
حَمْدًا يُوَافِقُ رِضَاكَ
ḥamdan yuwāfiqu riḍāk
Praise that agrees with Your pleasure
41
وَيَمْتَرِيْ الْعَظِيمَ مِنْ بِرِّكَ وَنَدَاكَ
wayamtaril `aẓīma min birrika wanadāk
And attracts the greatest of Your kindness and generosity
42
يَا عَظِيمُ يَا كَرِيمُ
yā `aẓīmu yā karīm
O Great One, O Generous One
43
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
biraḥmatika yā ar-ḥamar rāḥimīn
By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy
