bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
1
yā man idhā sa-alahu `abdun a`ṭāh
O One who, when a servant asks Him, He gives
2
wa-idhā ammala mā `indahu ballaghahu munāh
And when one hopes for what He has, He grants their wish
3
wa-idhā aqbala `alayhi qarrabahu wa-adnāh
And when one turns to Him, He brings them near and close
4
wa-idhā jāharahu bil `iṣyāni satara `alā dhanbihi waghaṭṭāh
And when one openly disobeys Him, He conceals their sin and covers it
5
wa-idhā tawakkala `alayhi aḥsabahu wakafāh
And when one relies on Him, He suffices them and fulfills their needs
6
ilāhī manil ladhī nazala bika multamisan qirāka famā qaraytah
My God, who has come to You seeking Your hospitality and You have not hosted them?
7
wamanil ladhī anākha bibābika mur-tajiyan nadāka famā awlaytah
And who has come to Your door hoping for Your generosity and You have not bestowed upon them?
8
ayaḥsunu an ar-ji`a `an bābika bil khaybati maṣrūfā
Is it appropriate that I return from Your door turned away in disappointment?
9
walastu a`rifu siwāka mawlan bil iḥsāni mawṣūfā
When I do not know any master other than You known for benevolence
10
kayfa ar-jū ghayraka walkhayru kulluhu biyadik
How can I hope for other than You when all goodness is in Your hand?
11
wakayfa u-ammilu siwāka walkhalqu wal-amru lak
And how can I desire anyone but You when creation and command belong to You?
12
a-aqṭa`u rajā-ī mink
Shall I cut off my hope from You?
13
waqad awlaytanī mā lam as-alhu min faḍlik
When You have already given me what I did not ask for from Your grace
14
am tufqirunī ilā mithlī
Or would You make me need someone like myself?
15
wa-ana a`taṣimu biḥablik
While I hold fast to Your rope
16
yā man sa`ida biraḥmatihil qāṣidūn
O One through whose mercy the seekers find happiness
17
walam yashqa binaqimatihil mustaghfirūn
And by whose vengeance those who seek forgiveness do not become wretched
18
kayfa ansāka walam tazal dhākirī
How can I forget You when You have always remembered me?
19
wakayfa alhū `anka wa-anta murāqibī
And how can I be distracted from You when You are watching over me?
20
ilāhī bidhayli karamika a`laqtu yadī
My God, I have attached my hand to the hem of Your generosity
21
walinayli `aṭāyāka basaṭtu amalī
And I have extended my hope to receive Your gifts
22
fa-akhliṣnī bikhāliṣati tawḥīdik
So purify me with the sincerity of Your Oneness
23
waj`alnī min ṣafwati `abīdik
And make me among the elite of Your servants
24
yā man kullu hāribin ilayhi yaltaji
O One to whom every fugitive seeks refuge
25
wakullu ṭālibin iyyāhu yar-tajī
And every seeker places their hope
26
yā khayra mar-juww
O Best One to hope in
27
wayā akrama mad`uww
And O Most Generous One to be called upon
28
wayā man lā yuraddu sā-iluh
O One whose petitioner is never rejected
29
walā yukhayyabu-āmiluh
And whose hoper is never disappointed
30
yā man bābuhu maftūḥun lidā`īh
O One whose door is open for those who call upon Him
31
waḥijābuhu mar-fū`un lirājīh
And whose veil is lifted for those who hope in Him
32
as-aluka bikaramika an tamunna `alayy
I ask You by Your generosity to bestow upon me
33
min `aṭā-ika bimā taqarru bihi `aynī
From Your gifts that which will delight my eye
34
wamin rajā-ika bimā taṭma-innu bihi nafsī
And from hope in You that which will reassure my soul
35
waminal yaqīni bimā tuhawwinu bihi `alayya muṣībātid dunyā
And from certainty that which will ease the calamities of this world for me
36
watajlū bihi `an baṣīratī ghashawātil `amā
And remove from my insight the veils of blindness
37
biraḥmatika yā ar-ḥamar rāḥimīn
By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful ones
