بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
1
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ
allāhumma innī astakhīruka bi`ilmik
O Allah, I seek the best from You through Your knowledge
2
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ اقْضِ لِيْ بِالْخِيَرَةِ
faṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa-ālihi waqḍi lī bil khiyarah
So send blessings upon Muhammad and his family, and decide for me what is best
3
وَ أَلْهِمْنَا مَعْرِفَةَ الِاخْتِيَارِ
wa alhimnā ma`rifatal ikhtiyār
And inspire us with the knowledge of making the right choice
4
وَ اجْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ ذَرِيْعَةً إِلَى الرِّضَا
waj`al dhālika dharī`atan ilar riḍā
And make that a means to being pleased
5
بِمَا قَضَيْتَ لَنَا وَ التَّسْلِيمِ لِمَا حَكَمْتَ
bimā qaḍayta lanā wat taslīmi limā ḥakamt
With what You have decreed for us and submission to what You have ruled
6
فَأَزِحْ عَنَّا رَيْبَ الِارْتِيَابِ
fa-aziḥ `annā raybal ir-tiyāb
Remove from us the doubt of uncertainty
7
وَ أَيِّدْنَا بِيَقِينِ الْمُخْلِصِينَ
wa ayyidnā biyaqīnil mukhliṣīn
And support us with the certainty of the sincere ones
8
وَ لَا تَسُمْنَا عَجْزَ الْمَعْرِفَةِ عَمَّا تَخَيَّرْتَ
wa lā tasumnā `ajzal ma`rifati `ammā takhayyar-t
And do not burden us with the inability to recognize what You have chosen
9
فَنَغْمِطَ قَدْرَكَ وَ نَكْرَهَ مَوْضِعَ رِضَاكَ
fanaghmiṭa qadraka wa nakraha mawḍi`a riḍāk
So that we undervalue Your decree and dislike the place of Your pleasure
10
وَ نَجْنَحَ إِلَى الَّتِيْ هِيَ أَبْعَدُ مِنْ حُسْنِ الْعَاقِبَةِ
wa najnaḥa ilal latī hiya ab`adu min ḥusnil `āqibah
And incline toward that which is further from a good outcome
11
وَ أَقْرَبُ إِلَى ضِدِّ الْعَافِيَةِ
wa aqrabu ilā ḍiddil `āfiyah
And closer to the opposite of well-being
12
حَبِّبْ إِلَيْنَا مَا نَكْرَهُ مِنْ قَضَائِكَ
ḥabbib ilaynā mā nakrahu min qaḍā-ik
Make beloved to us what we dislike from Your decree
13
وَ سَهِّلْ عَلَيْنَا مَا نَسْتَصْعِبُ مِنْ حُكْمِكَ
wa sahhil `alaynā mā nastaṣ`ibu min ḥukmik
And make easy for us what we find difficult from Your ruling
14
وَ أَلْهِمْنَا الِانْقِيَادَ لِمَا أَوْرَدْتَ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ مَشِيَّتِكَ
wa alhimnal inqiyāda limā awradta `alaynā min mashiyyatik
And inspire us to submit to what You bring upon us from Your will
15
حَتَّى لَا نُحِبَّ تَأْخِيرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ
ḥattā lā nuḥibba ta-khīra mā `ajjalt
Until we do not wish to delay what You have hastened
16
وَ لَا تَعْجِيلَ مَا أَخَّرْتَ وَ لَا نَكْرَهَ مَا أَحْبَبْتَ
wa lā ta`jīla mā akhhar-ta wa lā nakraha mā aḥbabt
Nor hasten what You have delayed, and we do not dislike what You love
17
وَ لَا نَتَخَيَّرَ مَا كَرِهْتَ
wa lā natakhayyara mā kariht
And we do not choose what You dislike
18
وَ اخْتِمْ لَنَا بِالَّتِيْ هِيَ أَحْمَدُ عَاقِبَةً وَ أَكْرَمُ مَصِيرًا
wakhtim lanā billatī hiya aḥmadu `āqibatan wa akramu maṣīrā
And conclude for us with that which has the most praiseworthy outcome and the most noble destination
19
إِنَّكَ تُفِيدُ الْكَرِيمَةَ وَ تُعْطِيْ الْجَسِيمَةَ
innaka tufīdul karīmata wa tu`ṭil jasīmah
Indeed, You bestow the precious and give the magnificent
20
وَ تَفْعَلُ مَا تُرِيدُ وَ أَنْتَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
wa taf`alu mā turīdu wa anta `alā kulli shay-in qadīr
And You do whatever You will, and You have power over all things
