bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
1
allāhumma innahu yaḥjubunī `an mas-alatika khilālun thalāth
O Allah, three qualities prevent me from asking You
2
wataḥdūnī `alayhā khallatun wāḥidah
And one quality urges me towards it
3
yaḥjubunī amrun amar-ta bihi fa-abṭa-tu `anh
I am prevented by commands You ordered which I was slow to fulfill
4
wanahyun nahaytanī `anhu fa-asra`tu ilayh
And prohibitions You forbade which I hastened to commit
5
wani`matun an`amta bihā `alayya faqaṣṣar-tu fī shukrihā
And blessings You bestowed upon me for which I was deficient in gratitude
6
wayaḥdūnī `alā mas-alatika tafaḍḍuluk
And what urges me to ask You is Your favor
7
`alā man aqbala biwajhihi ilayk
Upon those who turn their faces toward You
8
wawafada biḥusni ẓannihi ilayk
And approach You with good expectations
9
idh jamī`u iḥsānika tafaḍḍul
Since all Your benevolence is a favor
10
wa-idh kullu ni`amikabtidā
And all Your blessings are initiated by You
11
fahā ana dhā yā ilahī wāqifun bibābi `izzik
So here I am, my God, standing at the door of Your might
12
wuqūfal mustaslimidh dhalīl, wasā-iluka `alal ḥayā-i minnī
Standing as one surrendered and humbled, asking You despite my embarrassment
13
su-ālal bā-isil mu`īli muqirrun laka bi-annī
Like the asking of a destitute, acknowledging that I
14
lam astaslim waqta iḥsānika illā bil iqlā`i `an `iṣyānik
Did not surrender during Your benevolence except by ceasing my disobedience to You
15
walam akhlu fil ḥālāti kullihā minimtinānik
And I was never free in all situations from Your favors
16
fahal yanfa`unī yā ilahī iqrārī `indaka bisū-i maktasabt
So will it benefit me, my God, to confess before You the evil I have earned?
17
wahal yunjīnī minka`tirafī laka biqabīḥi mar-takabt
Will my confession to You of the ugliness of what I have committed save me from You?
18
am awjabta lī fī maqāmī hadhā sukhṭak
Have You decreed Your displeasure for me in this position of mine?
19
am lazimanī fī waqti du`āya maqtuk
Or has Your abhorrence become necessary for me at the time of my supplication?
20
subḥānaka lā ay-asu minka waqad fataḥta lī bābat tawbati ilayk
Glory be to You! I do not despair of You when You have opened for me the door of repentance
21
bal aqūlu maqālal `abdidh dhalīliẓ ẓālimi linafsih
Rather, I speak as a humble servant who has wronged himself
22
al mustakhiffi biḥur-mati rabbih
Who has taken lightly the sanctity of his Lord
23
al ladhī `aẓumat dhunūbuhu fajallat wa-adbarat ayyāmuhu fawallat
Whose sins have become great and grave, and whose days have turned away and gone
24
ḥattā idhā ra-ā muddatal `amali qadinqaḍat
Until when he sees that the period of action has expired
25
waghāyatal `umuri qadintahat
And the end of life has arrived
26
wa-ayqana annahu lā maḥīṣa lahu minka walā mahraba lahu `ank
And he is certain that he has no escape from You and no place to flee from You
27
talaqqāka bil inābati wa-akhlaṣa lakat tawbah
He turns to You in repentance and purifies his repentance for You
28
faqāma ilayka biqalbin ṭāhirin naqiyy
So he stands before You with a pure, clean heart
29
thumma da`āka biṣawtin ḥā-ilin khafiyy
Then he calls You with a faint, low voice
30
qad taṭa-ṭa-a laka fanḥanā wanakkasa ra-sahu fanthanā
He has bowed his head before You and bent, and lowered his head and curved
31
qad ar-`ashat khashyatuhu rijlayhi wagharraqat dumū`uhu khaddayh
His fear has made his legs tremble and his tears have soaked his cheeks
32
yad`ūka biyā ar-ḥamar rāḥimīna wayā ar-ḥama manintābahul mustar-ḥimūn
He calls upon You: "O Most Merciful of the merciful! O Most Merciful to those who seek mercy!
33
wayā a`ṭafa man aṭāfa bihil mustaghfirūn
O Most Kind to those who seek forgiveness!
34
wayā man `afwuhu aktharu min naqimatih
O One whose pardon is greater than His vengeance!
35
wayā man riḍāhu awfaru min sakhaṭih
O One whose pleasure is more abundant than His anger!
36
wayā man taḥammada ilā khalqihi biḥusnit tajāwuz
O One who has earned praise from His creation through His beautiful forgiveness!
37
wayā man `awwada `ibādahu qabūlal inābah
O One who has accustomed His servants to the acceptance of repentance!
38
wayā manistaṣlaḥa fāsidahum bittawbah
O One who reforms their corruption through repentance!
39
wayā man raḍiya min fi`lihim bil yasīr
O One who is satisfied with the small from their actions!
40
wayā man kāfā qalīlahum bil kathīr
O One who rewards their little with much!
41
wayā man ḍamina lahum ijābatad du`ā
O One who has guaranteed them the answer to their prayers!
42
wayā man wa`adahum `alā nafsihi bitafaḍḍulihi ḥusnal jazā
O One who has promised them, by His grace, an excellent reward!
43
mā ana bi-a`ṣā man `aṣāka faghafar-ta lah
I am not more disobedient than those who disobeyed You and You forgave them
44
wamā ana bi-alwami mani`tadhara ilayka faqabilta minh
I am not more blameworthy than those who apologized to You and You accepted from them
45
wamā ana bi-aẓlami man tāba ilayka fa`udta `alayh
I am not more unjust than those who repented to You and You turned to them
46
atūbu ilayka fī maqāmī hadhā tawbata nādimin `alā mā faraṭa minh
I repent to You in this position of mine with the repentance of one regretful for what escaped from him
47
mushfiqin mimmajtama`a `alayhi khāliṣil ḥayā-i mimmā waqa`a fīh
Fearful of what has accumulated upon him, with sincere shame for what has befallen him
48
`ālimin bi-annal `afwa `anidh dhanbil `aẓīmi lā yata`āẓamuk
Knowing that pardoning great sin is not difficult for You
49
wa-annat tajāwuza `anil ithmil jalīli lā yastaṣ`ibuk
And that overlooking enormous transgression is not hard for You
50
wa-annaḥtimālal jināyātil fāḥishati lā yataka--aduk
And that bearing terrible offenses does not burden You
51
wa-anna aḥabba `ibādika ilayka man tarakal istikbāra `alayk
And that the most beloved of Your servants to You is he who abandons arrogance toward You

And save me from what the people of evil fear
61

waghfir dhanbī wa āmin khawfa nafsī
And forgive my sin and secure me from the fear of myself
69

wadhalika `alayka yasīrun-āmīna rabbal `ālamīn
And that is easy for You. Amen, Lord of the worlds
