اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى وَلِيِّكَ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā waliyyik
O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon Your friend,
وَأَخِيْ نَبِيِّكَ
wa-akhī nabiyyik
the brother of Your Prophet,
وَوَزِيرِهِ وَحَبِيبِهِ وَخَلِيلِهِ
wawazīrihi waḥabībihi wakhalīlih
his vizier, dear one, intimate friend,
وَمَوْضِعِ سِرِّهِ
wamawḍi`i sirrih
his trustee on his secrets,
وَخِيَرَتِهِ مِنْ أُسْرَتِهِ
wakhiyaratihi min usratih
the favorite one among his family members,
وَوَصِيِّهِ وَصَفْوَتِهِ وَخَالِصَتِهِ
wawaṣiyyihi waṣafwatihi wakhāliṣatih
his successor, his choice, his dignitary,
وَأَمِينِهِ وَوَلِيِّهِ
wa-amīnihi wawaliyyih
his courier, his best friend,
وَأَشْرَفِ عِتْرَتِهِ الَّذِيْنَ آمَنُوْا بِهِ
wa-ashrafi `itratihil ladhīna-āmanū bih
the most honorable of the members of his household who believed in him,
وَأَبِيْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِ
wa-abī dhurriyyatih
the father of his progeny,
وَبَابِ حِكْمَتِهِ
wabābi ḥikmatih
the door to his wisdom,
وَالنَّاطِقِ بِحُجَّتِهِ
wan nāṭiqi biḥujjatih
his spokesman who speaks with his argument,
وَالدَّاعِيْ إِلَى شَرِيْعَتِهِ
wad dā`ī ilā sharī`atih
the inviter to his code of law,
وَالْمَاضِيْ عَلَى سُنَّتِهِ
walmāḍī `alā sunnatih
the follower of his instructions,
وَخَلِيفَتِهِ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ
wakhalīfatihi `alā ummatih
his representative on his people,
سَيِّدِ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ
sayyidil muslimīn
the master of Muslims,
وَأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
wa-amīril mu-minīn
the commander of the faithful,
وَقَائِدِ الْغُرِّ الْمُحَجَّلِينَ
waqā-idil ghurril muḥajjalīn
and the leader of the white-forehead group;
أَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
afḍala mā ṣallayta `alā aḥadin min khalqik
(please, bless him) with the best blessings that You have ever bestowed upon any of Your creatures
وَأَصْفِيَائِكَ وَأَوْصِيَاءِ أَنْبِيَائِكَ
wa-aṣfiyā-ika wa-awṣiyā-i anbiyā-ik
and upon Your select ones and Your Prophets’ successors.
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَشْهَدُ
allāhumma innī ash-had
O Allah, I bear witness
أَنَّهُ قَدْ بَلَّغَ عَنْ نَبِيِّكَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ مَا حُمِّلَ
annahu qad ballagha `an nabiyyika ṣallallāhu `alayhi wa ālihi mā ḥummil
that he conveyed all that which has been entrusted with him on behalf of Your Prophet, peace be upon him and his Household,
وَرَعَىٰ مَا اسْتُحْفِظَ
wara`ā mastuḥfiẓ
conformed to that which has been kept with him,
وَحَفِظَ مَا اسْتُودِعَ
waḥafiẓa mastūdi`
held that which has been commended to him,
وَحَلَّلَ حَلالَكَ
waḥallala ḥalālak
observed that which You have deemed lawful,
وَحَرَّمَ حَرَامَكَ
waḥarrama ḥarāmak
forbade that which You have deemed unlawful,
وَأَقَامَ أَحْكَامَكَ
wa-aqāma aḥkāmak
carried out Your laws,
وَدَعَا إِلَى سَبِيلِكَ
wada`ā ilā sabīlik
called unto Your course,
وَوَالَى أَوْلِيَاءَكَ
wawālā awliyā-ak
he assisted Your saints,
وَعَادَىٰ أَعْدَاءَكَ
wa`ādā a`dā-ak
incurred the hostility of Your enemies,
وَجَاهَدَ النَّاكِثِينَ عَنْ سَبِيلِكَ
wajāhadan nākithīna `an sabīlik
and strove against those who preached Your path,
وَالْقَاسِطِينَ وَالْمَارِقِينَ عَنْ أَمْرِكَ
walqāsiṭīna walmāriqīna `an amrik
those who acted wrongly, and those who apostatized Your affair.
صَابِرًا مُحْتَسِبًا
ṣābiran muḥtasibā
In all these, he was steadfast, seeking Your pleasure,
مُقْبِلًا غَيْرَ مُدْبِرٍ
muqbilan ghayra mudbir
advancing, and never neglectful.
لَا تَأْخُذُهُ فِيْ اللَّهِ لَوْمَةُ لاَئِمٍ
lā ta-khudhuhu fillāhi lawmatu lā-im
No censure has ever precluded him from what he would do for Your sake
حَتَّىٰ بَلَغَ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ الرِّضَا
ḥattā balagha fī dhālikar riḍā
until he attained Your satisfaction,
وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْكَ الْقَضَاءَ
wasallama ilaykal qaḍā
relegated all matters to You,
وَعَبَدَكَ مُخْلِصًا
wa`abadaka mukhliṣā
worshipped You sincerely,
وَنَصَحَ لَكَ مُجْتَهِدًا
wanaṣaḥa laka mujtahidā
and acted sincerely and painstakingly for Your sake
حَتَّىٰ أَتَاهُ الْيَقِينُ
ḥattā atāhul yaqīn
until death came upon him.
فَقَبَضْتَهُ إِلَيْكَ شَهِيدًا سَعِيدًا
faqabaḍtahu ilayka shahīdan sa`īdā
So, You grasped his soul to You while he was happy martyr,
وَلِيًّا تَقِيًّا رَضِيًّا
waliyyan taqiyyan raḍiyyā
saint, pious, pleased,
زَكِيًّا هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا
zakiyyan hādiyan mahdiyyā
pure, guide, and well-guided.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَيْهِ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa`alayh
O Allah, (please do) bless Muhammad and bless him
أَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَنْبِيَائِكَ وَأَصْفِيَائِكَ
afḍala mā ṣallayta `alā aḥadin min anbiyā-ika wa-aṣfiyā-ik
with the best blessings You have ever bestowed upon any of Your Prophets and select ones,
يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
yā rabbal `ālamīn
O Lord of the worlds.
